Corn is one of the three main grain crops in our country, which is also the key raw material for the development of livestock industry. With the adjustment of the agricultural structure and the development of stock breeding, the research of the corn combining reaping both stalks and ears of corn becomes a hotspot. It not only recycles the corn stalks and corn ears but also prevents the atmosphere pollution by burning stalks.Firstly, the general project of the corn combining reaping is determined through theoretical analysis. The device of the corn-ear collection is made up of picking board, stalk pulled roller and corn husker. The device of gathering stalks is consisted of rotor cuter to cut off stalks, unilateral-multi rollers to convey stalks, flat-straight knife to chop and throw stalks. In order to adapt various geographical conditions and growing patterns, the machine is designed with two separated lift cutting workbench to harvest corn ears and stalks.Secondly, the detailed design of the stalk collection device is as an important part in the thesis, which is analyzed and calculated in detail, then the structure, layout and parameters of rotor cutter are determined based on the conditions of low vibration, uniform force and cutting stalks. Four feeding-rollers with different diameter and tooth form are used to straighten out stalks, and to convey them to the stalk cutting device, and then the chopper cut off them to throw back the field or be collected.Thirdly, theoretically analyze the principle of cylinder cutter’s cutting and throwing process, and properly design its structure parameters to meet the requirement of their performance.Finally, the double-beam model of the stalks is created by ANSYS/LS-DYNA to calculate the cutting force of the rotor cutter and make modal analysis in order to avoid resonance. The power simulation test is realized based on the stalk cutting FEM modal in order to find the main factors influencing power consumption and get the optimal combination of parameters. Some useful parameters also are obtained, such as equivalent stress, cutting resistance and power consumption.The structure parameters and performance of all components are tested combing theoretical research, virtual modeling and CAE method. The results from field tests of the machine prototype turn out that the machine have perfectly workability, which has laid the foundation for further improvement and extension.
