| Abstract:Dongchuan District is one of Kunming’s industrial counties and districts that is based on mineral resources development. However, its large-scale exploitation of rich mineral resources has failed to lift Dongchuan out of poverty to become an economically developed region. On the contrary, the long-term uncontrolled and extensive ore mining and dressing and the excessive felling of trees as fuel for smelting copper has rapidly deteriorated Dongchuan’s ecological environment. The much highlighted phenomena such as tattered mountains and rivers, sparse vegetations and soil erosion have produced a serious impact on the development of Dongchuan’s economy, especially that of its agricultural and rural economy. With the depletion of mineral resources in recent years, its industrial development has been found in difficulties and obstacles, so its agricultural development is expected to be one of the focal points in Dongchuan’s development in the future. However, in the new situation, how to make good use of Dongchuan’s own resource advantage and the opportunity offered by two strategies of China’s western development and Yunnan’s southwest gateway construction to achieve the goal of rapid and sustainable agricultural development in good coordination of ecological, economic and social benefits remains a big challenge to such ecologically very fragile and economically less developed regions as Dongchuan. It is in view of Dongchuan’s actual situation of agricultural development and in perspective of ecological agriculture that I again analyze and think about Dongchuan’s agriculture. First of all, I make a study of the characteristics of resources and industrial structure of Dongchuan’s agriculture. Secondly, in the light of Dongchuan’s present resources and industrial structure of agriculture, I use the SWOT method in analyzing the internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats of Dongchuan’s eco-agriculture. Finally, based on the above analysis, I come up with a general idea of eco-agriculture in Dongchuan, and on the principle of relative consistency of factors of Dongchuan’s regional geography, landforms, climate, hydrology and agricultural land resources, I classify Dongchuan’s eco-agriculture in different zones. I attempt to design a model of Dongchuan’s eco-agriculture integrating itself with the actual situation of different zones of eco-agriculture. |
