Rice husk is a byproduct of rice processing, the output is rich, the crude fiber content is high and the price is low, applied to the breeding of the geese can alleviate the pressure of the shortage of high-quality forage such as alfalfa. This experiment was conducted to study the effects of two kinds of fiber sources diets on growth performance, slaughter performance and digestive physiology of0to10weeks age of Yangzhou geese, using the methods of feeding trial, slaughter test and biochemistry analysis. Combined with the index of growth performance, the length, weight and the shape of gastrointestinal, the activities of digestive enzyme and nutrient utilization, the system analyzes of different fiber source on the growth of geese were completed. It’s good to provide a reference for understanding and playing grazing performance of geese, as well as provide the basis for scientific use of fibrous feed and productivity improving of raise geese.Three hundred and ninety-two newly hatched male Yangzhou geese were selected and14geese were randomly slaughtered at2hour for comparison. The remainders were divided into two groups with alfalfa and rice husk fiber dietary were fed respectively at the next10weeks, each of which was replicated7times with27geese per replicate. In the trial period of1,2,4,6,8,10weeks, each repetition were taken two geese for slaughter, the length of the digestive tract and the weight of intestinal were determined. The gastrointestinal enzyme activity and morphology of intestinal were observed at2,4,6,8,10-week-age, the metabolic testing has been done just after each period and the digestibility of nutrients were measured. The results are shown in the below.1.Effect of two kinds of fiber sources on the growth performance of Yangzhou geese:two kinds of fiber sources have no significant influence on the body weight of each weeks(P>0.05). But1to6-week-old alfalfa meal each week body weight slightly larger than the husk group, while after7-week-old rice husk group’s weight better than alfalfa groups. Different dietary fiber sources have a significant influence on average daily feed intake of0to4-week-old Yangzhou geese (P<0.05), alfalfa meal group was significantly higher than rice husk group, but no significant effects on average daily gain, feed intake and F/G at other days(P>0.05). The results showed that different fiber sources diets had some effect on growth performance of goslings at early stage, but there are no significant influence on growth performance in wholly stage(P>0.05).2. Effect of two kinds of fiber sources on visceral organs, slaughter performance and blood biochemical index of Yangzhou geese:different dietary fiber sources have no significant influence on visceral organs, slaughter performance of10-week-old Yangzhou geese(P>0.05). It is consistent with conclusion of growth performance, this indicates that using rice husk as alternative feeding Yangzhou geese does not affect the development of visceral organs slaughter performance when there are come in. Fiber sources had no significant effect on most of the serum biochemical indexes (P>0.05), except busk fiber diets significant decreased the serum TG level of10-week-old Yangzhou geese(P<0.01). It is consistent with the conclusion that abdominal fat is little heavier in busk group (the percentage of abdominal fat are2.41and2.14).3.Effect of two kinds of fiber sources on digestive physiology of Yangzhou geese:two kinds of fiber sources do not effect the gizzard or proventriculus of geese in any period(P>0.05). The weight and the length of each part of intestinal are the alfalfa lower then husk at1,2,4-week-old, even the Jejunum’s length at1-week-old, duodenum’s length and cecum’s weight at2-week-old and cecum’s length at28-day-old reached a significant state. There are no significant difference on intestinal at6,8,10-week-old (P>0.05). The busk diets significant decreased the intestinal villus height and the lamina propria thickness of duodenum, but not effect on intestinal between two groups after4-week-old. The alfalfa diets significant decreased the activation of amylase, protease and lipase as well as the digestibility of crude protein and fat, while the digestibility of energy, crude fiber and NDF Significant (P<0.05) or very significant (P<0.01) higher then busk group. Different fiber sources do not effect the chymous pH, the cecum cellulase and hemicellulose activity and the digestibility of other nutrients(P>0.05).The experimental results showed that with the animal dietary nutrient level of the same or similar circumstances, two kinds of fiber sources have no significant influence on the growth performance or slaughter performance of geese, the rice husk can be widely applied in the production practice instead of the alfalfa meal as the major fiber diets. Different fiber source diets have certain influence on development of gastrointestinal tract, digestive enzyme activity and the digestibility of nutrition. Rice husk fiber significantly reduced the intestinal bowels parietes thickness and villus height of early geese, a certain adaptability of intestinal was caused after fiber stimulation. Alfalfa meal diet is not conducive to the dietary crude protein and crude fat metabolism, but it is conducive to digestion and intestinal microbial population diversity growth and the utilization of fiber.
