effects of mixed carbohydrate fibers, for example unite bran and soybean hulls on performance of Magang geese by growth and metabolic trials,to provide a conceptual framework for the development and utilization of unite bran and soybean hulls in the goose diet.In the growth trial,240 47-day-old Magang geese with uniform body weight(2.90±0.02)kg were randomly allocated into 3 groups with 4 replicates of 20 Magang geese in each replicate (half-male and half-female).Group A birds were fed with mixed fiber diet (unite bran and soybean hulls),while birds in group B were fed unite bran fiber diet. The group C geese were fed soybean hulls fiber diet. The trial lasted for 20 days. The effects of dietary fiber sources on growth performance, slaughter performance, blood biochemical index, digestive enzyme activity, intestinal morphology and nutrient digestibility of Magang geese were determined. After the growth trial,24 male geese with uniform weight (3.74 kg+ 0.02 kg) were selected for a 14-day metabolic trial to determine the nutrient digestibility of Magang geese. Our results are listed as follows:(1)Effects of dietary fiber sources on the growth performance of Magang geese: The final weight of group C birds was significantly higher than that of group B birds (P<0.05),while there was no significant difference between the remaining groups (P>0.05).The average daily feed intake of group C animals was significantly higher than that of group B and A geese (P<0.05),while there was no significant difference between other groups (P>0.05).The average daily gain of group C was substantially higher than that of group A and B birds (P<0.05),with group A birds were significantly higher than group B geese (P<0.05).The F/G ratio of group B was markedly higher than that of group A and B geese (P<0.01),while there was no significant difference between other groups (P>0.05).There was no significant difference in mortality rate between groups (P>0.05).(2)Effects of dietary fiber sources on the slaughter performance of Magang geese: The eviscerated,semi-eviscerated,leg muscle and breast muscle rates of group C geese were much higher than those of group B birds (P<0.01).The eviscerated and leg muscle rates of group C animals were significantly higher than those of group A birds (P<0.05).The semi-eviscerated and breast muscle rates of group A birds were significantly higher than those of group B birds (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in carcassand abdominal fat percentage between the aforementioned groups (P>0.05).(3)Effects of dietary fiber sources on the blood biochemical indices of Magang geese: The contents of serum glucose, total protein, albumin and glutamic oxalacetic transaminase of group C birds were snotably higher than those of group B birds (P<0.01),while alkaline phosphatase and triglyceride levels of group C geese were significantly lower than those of group B animals (P<0.01).Serum glucose and albumin levels of group C birds were significantly higher than those of group A geese (P<0.05),while alkaline phosphatase was significantly lower than that of group A geese (P<0.05).The contents of serum glucose, total protein, albumin and glutamic oxalacetic transaminase of group A birds were significantly higher than those of group B geese (P<0.05),while alkaline phosphatase and triglyceride levels were significantly lower than those of group B birds (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in total cholesterol content between groups (P>0.05).(4)Effects of dietary fiber sources on intestinal morphology of Magang geese: The thickness of intestinal wall in group A birds was significantly higher than that of group B birds (P<0.05),there was no significant difference between the other groups (P>0.05).The villus height of duodenum, jejunum and ileum in group C geese were significantly higher than that of group B (P<0.05).The crypt depth of duodenum in group C birds was significantly lower than that of group B geese (P<0.05).The crypt depth of jejunum in group C animals was significantly lower than that of group A birds (P<0.05),there was no significant difference between other groups (P>0.05).The ratio of villus height/crypt depth(V/C)of duodenum, jejunum and ileum in group C birds were significantly higher than that of group B birds (P<0.05).The ratio of V/C of jejunum in group C birds was significantly higher than that of group A birds (P<0.05).The ratio of V/C of duodenum, jejunum and ileum in group A birds were significantly higher than that of group B birds (P<0.05).(5)Effects of dietary fiber sources on the intestinal enzyme activity of Magang geese: Intestinal amylase, lipase and trypsin activities of duodenum, jejunum and ileum in group C geese were significantly higher than those of group B birds (P<0.05).Intestinal amylase and trypsin activities of jejunum in group C birds were significantly higher than those of group A (P<0.05).Intestinal lipase and trypsin activities of duodenum and ileum in group C were significantly higher than those of group A birds (P<0.05).Intestinal amylase, lipase and trypsin activities of duodenum, jejunum in group A birds were significantly higher than those of group B birds(P<0.05).Intestinal amylase and trypsin activities of ileum in group A birds were significantly higher than those of group B geese (P<0.05).(6)Effects of dietary fiber sources on the nutrient digestibility of Magang geese: The digestibility of dietary gross energy and crude protein in group C birds was significantly higher than that of group B birds (P<0.05),while the digestibility of acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber was substantially lower than that of group B birds (P<0.05).The digestibility of crude protein in group C was significantly higher than that of group A birds (P<0.05).The digestibility of dry matter, gross energy and crude protein in group A birds were higher than that of group B geese, but there were no significant differences (P>0.05).(7)The nutrient digestibility of unite bran and soybean hulls on Magang geese: The dry matter and gross energy digestibility of soybean hulls were significantly higher than those of the unite bran (P<0.01),while the acid detergent fiber digestibility of soybean hulls was significantly lower than that of the unite bran (P<0.05).This study concluded that soybean hull fiber used as the main source was better than that of mixed fiber (unite bran and soybean hull fibers),and the mixed fiber was superior to the unite bran fiber in improving the growth performance, slaughter performance and blood biochemical index, intestinal morphology, intestinal enzyme activity and nutrient digestibility of Magang geese. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Fiber
