Cottonseed meal is an important plant protein material to use in aquaculture feed. Chinais a major cotton producing countries in the world. Especially in Xinjiang region, it has a richresource of high quality cotton, and Cottonseed meal which byproduct of cotton oil extractionyield is also high. Xinjiang is a major producer of cottonseed meal. Select cottonseed meal asa substitute for fish raw is economical and convenient. In the global shortage of fishmealmarket environment, the urgent need to find a cheap alternative source of high quality proteinmeal. Therefore, research and development high-quality aquaculture feed in cottonseed mealas the main protein source and partial replacement of fish meal protein has good prospects.In this paper, the purpose is to develop a high quality extruded aquaculture feed based oncottonseed meal. The index is vitro digestibility and feed physical characteristics. Selectedoptimum replacement amount of cottonseed meal partial substitution of fish meal, optimizedaquaculture feed formulation and extrusion technology, applied research of productcharacteristics and carp feeding, evaluated feed economic, analyzed the applications value andmarket prospects of quality extruded aquatic feed based on cottonseed meal. This paper aimsto develop a high-quality extruded cottonseed meal-based aquaculture feed products in orderto improve feed utilization, reduce farming costs, alleviate the shortage of fish resources, andpromote the development of aquatic feed and aquaculture industry.Optimized extruded aquaculture feed formulation by In vitro digestion method to chooseoptimum requirement of cottonseed meal replacement fishmeal. The evaluation is in vitrodigestibility of protein and phosphorus. The results showed that the cottonseed mealreplacement is33%, the optimum requirement of phosphorus0.8%, and add0.045%aquatictemperature enzyme and2.0%powder, reaches a maximum in vitro digestibility of feed.Prepared cottonseed meal-based aquaculture feed by extrusion technology, and physicalcharacteristics of the product were evaluated. The uniform design and response surfaceanalysis methods were used of studying different extruded technology factors affecting product quality. Established the corresponding regression model and optimized the aquaticfeed extrusion process. The results showed that the optimum extrusion conditions were: screwspeed of67r/min, water content of28%, cylinder temperature of122℃.Quality extruded aquatic feed products showed good characteristics. It has a porousstructure, with a strong stability in water, dispersion is small, and can float on the water a longtime. Water absorption rate is slow down, and water absorption saturation. Sedimentation rateis the first slow-after fast. Quality extruded aquatic feed products can be used as aquaculturefeed for fish feeding.The carp feeding experiment showed that, high-quality extruded cottonseed meal-basedaquatic feed showed good results. The quality of per unit length of fed carp is large. Fishfatness, and a large proportion of fish carcasses, multi-edible parts, and better than thecorresponding commercial feed. Test feed and commercial feed is similar in meat quality, andtest feed even better than the commercial feed. Cottonseed meal part replacement of fish mealfeed does not affect fish health, reached the level of commercial feed. Add cottonseed mealdid not cause adverse effects on the physical health of the fish. The effect of extrudedcottonseed meal-based feed with commercial feed in carp feeding areas is similar, and insome aspects extruded cottonseed meal-based feed even better than the commercial feed.Economic cost analysis found that cottonseed meal can be used as a protein material toalternate fishmeal, and able to achieve better economic efficiency. High-quality extrudedcottonseed meal-based aquatic feed has low cost, and priced at4.5yuan/kg. It has the sameeffect of feeding with commercial feed and has a broad market prospect. High-qualityextruded cottonseed meal-based aquatic feed into production, reached an annual output of20,000tons, annual sales income of580million, the profit growth of nearly1times overbefore.
