China is a country with big proportion of dry agricultural. No matter floor space or grain yield, dry agricultural in the north occupies a very important position in China. Excavating yield-increasing potential of dry area will be the infrastructure assurance for food security in China.Mechanized conservation tillage is transformed from simply changing nature to using nature by mechanical farming, it is a revolutionary change coordinating development with the nature, also is a significant reform of agricultural production and development mode, playing a positive role in promoting agricultural sustainable development. In our country, about1billion acres of dryland farming area are suitable for using conservation tillage technology, which is the route one that must be taken to realize sustainable development of agriculture in dry farming areas.Shouyang is one of the birthplaces of conservation tillage technology with typical dry farming representativeness. Since1992, by experiment and demonstration promotion over21years, a whole set of corn conservation tillage once a year technology models in dryland areas have gradually formed. Based on the research for mechanized conservation tillage system in Shouyang and the analysis for economic benefits, ecological benefits, social benefits which brought by mechanical conservation tillage, the reliability and feasibility of mechanized conservation tillage in the region will be verified. At the same time, the existing technology, knowledge, policy problems and countermeasures of conservation tillage in the region will put forward and further promotion of dryland conservation tillage in the north dry areas will be proposed.
