Orchard mechanization degree is an important part of that in agricultural mechanization,the important role of small tractors is determined by present situation and operationenvironment of orchard in our country. Transmission is the main working parts of the tractor,the operation quality and efficiency of the tractor is directly affected by the pros and cons ofits performance, so the research and design of low cost and high quality transmission is oftheoretical and practical significance. The traditional method of transmission design doeshave some disadvantages, but the way of parametric design can obviously improve theflexibility and efficiency of transmission design.In this paper, the research and design of small tractors transmission were carried out onthe basis of the structure and working situation of small tractor, and it mainly included theselection and design of transmission scheme, and also contained the design and check of maincomponents. The final transmission scheme was got by consulting other information ontransmission scheme; the main components was designed and checked. According to theresults of design, as follows were studied by using Pro/E, Automation GATEWAY and theVisual Basic software:1. With the parametric design in Pro/E, three-dimensional modeling and processingparameters were completed on the design of the transmission. Users could make the value ofparameter change, brought the three-dimensional model change, and at last got the requiredresults.2. The database of parts and assemblies was established, it mainly included all parts oftransmission matching the speed of2200r/min, power8.8kW,12.1kW,14.7kW smalltractor, users can obtain the sub-part needed by altering certain characteristics or parameterswith the family tool.3. After Pro/E and AGW connected correctly, the secondary development interfaces ofsmall tractor gearbox in the VB language environment were established, the components onthe freedom design or opening the models from the database could be achieved through theinterface by importing the Chinese-related parameters and selecting the appropriate buttonsetc.4. By using Automation GATEWAY, Pro/E and Pro/program software, assembling small tractor transmission parts automatically could be realized, and the interface of gearboxassembly database was built. Users could open and call the small tractor gearbox assemblywhich matched8.8kW,12.1kW and14.7kW through the interface.The design efficiency and serialization degree of transmission was improved byparametric design; the establishment of a small tractor gearbox computer-aided design system(CAD) was based on the re-development of Pro/E, the interface of parametric design is simple,and it can be operated easily. Designers could get all components of the small tractor gearboxthrough this system, which could make the output of gearbox parts2D drawings easy bycalling CAD drawings templates and dimensioning. The design cycle of transmission wasshortened at last.
