Chinese yam is recognized as a pollution-free and health care vegetables, It has a longhistory of cultivation in our country. It is a deep root plant, it requires a lot of manual laborand time, when we gain. At present domestic yam harvester is still in the design anddevelopment stages, it only uses the ditcher digging ditches at the edge of the yam, it alsorequires a lot of human participation in operation, the degree of mechanization is very low.Therefore a harvester which can realize the yam unearthed automatically and can beseparated from soil needs to be designed. It will reduce farmers’ labor intensity, improve theefficiency of yam’s harvest, improving the quality and output of yam, so as to promote thedevelopment of industrialized production.On the base of the further study of agronomic requirements of yam cultivation and soildynamics in the paper, it design a yam harvester which can realize the yam unearthedautomatically and can be separated from soil in the way of archaeological dig. The papermain research work is as follows:1. According to the environment and agronomic requirements of yam gardens, it candetermine the basic technical parameters of yam harvester. According to the knowledge ofthe soil mechanics and agricultural machinery, combined with the knowledge of kinematicsand dynamics, it can determine the optimal cutting speed and cutting knife soil thickness onthe study of knife cut soil theory. According to empirical formula, it can calculate theresistance of chain cutter/spiral cutter and the power consumption in the process of miningof yam harvester.2. With applying the idea of modular design, Subject make a structure design andparameter selection of rear suspension mechanism module, down support mechanismmodule, transmission mechanism module of the yam harvester.3. It can do modeling and assemble of parts of the yam harvester with the3D solidmodeling software SolidWorks; With using the plugin of dynamics analysis in SolidWorks,it can do kinematics simulation on the model, so as to eliminate the interference beforeproduction prototype and gain speed, acceleration, force and power consumptioncharacteristics of driving parts to provide a basis for optimal design of institutions.4. With Ansys Workbench, it can do statics analysis on the down support bracket of theyam harvester, it is concluded that: the maximum stress value of86.281Mpa Occur in the connection joint less than the material yield strength235Mpa; the maximum deformationof3.2526mm, occur in the end of the bracket and the transportation agency, less than thedeflection of the license, Its stiffness meet the use requirement. With modal analysis on thedown support bracket and extends the first6order natural frequency, it is concluded that:the impact frequency of the Chain is59.055Hz, between5and6natural frequency, it won’tproduce resonance.5. With the statics analysis on chain knife, it is concluded that: Stress mainlyconcentrated in the blade of chain knife, the maximum stress occurs at the tip, its value is6.5115Mpa; Maximum deformation occur in the tool nose, its value is0.028mm. Andchain knife can bear10times of the normal load.
