Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) and Monochamus alternatus(Hope) were important stem borers,Monochamus alternatus(Hope) was the main media of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus,Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) carried B.mucronatus only second to Monochamus alternatus(Hope), which caused serious damage to pinewood. There were few reports about semi-artificial diet of Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) and diapause termination of Monochamus alternatus(Hope) research at present. In this experiment,we had been further study on feed formula of Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) and biological characteristics of Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) and diapause termination of Monochamus alternatus(Hope).Results were as follows:1. Semi-artificial diet developed of Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) larvae Three kinds of pine semi-artificial diets rearing Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) pupal weight respectively were dietⅠ0.3400 g,dietⅡ0.4063 g,diet Ⅲ0.3827 g,pupal weight collected in the field was only 0.2593 g,so pupal weight indoor fed up with semi-artificial diets was significantly higher than that of wild-collected by comparing. This showed that larva growth and development indoors was better than outdoors. In addition,the total duration of larval development by feeding three kinds of pine semi-artificial diets respectively were 213.4 d, 184.8 d and 197.7 d.2. Instar separation of Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) larvae Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) had 10 ages by observing,this result fills a gap in the Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) biology. Meanwhile,this study found that head capsule and pronotum of Arhopalus rusticus(Linnaeus) growth with value geometrically respectively were 1.32 and 1.40. Because of the larve liked to move,there were errors with the measurement of pronotum width. While the head capsule was harder than pronotum,it was better to be as a division of standard instar,the data of pronotum width could be a division of subsides instar.3. Biological characteristics of diapause Monochamus alternatus(Hope) The study showed that diapause best with indoor 5℃ processing for 30 days,pupation and emergence rate could reach 86.67%,what was more,the adult fecundity and egg hatchability was higher than other treatments. Fecundity indoors after diapausing was about 121,hatching rate was up to 92% and the incubation period was about 5.3 d. Particularly,low temperature stimulating did not effect on the adult sex ratio and life.
