A college campus usually acts an essential part of urban architecture, as its landscape in the campus tends to reflect the culture and even mental value of this city. Campus Plant Landscape is a kind of leisure environment which is made up of various plants, and moreover it helps human to interact with nature harmoniously. When designing the landscape of one campus, its natural and cultural beauty should be taken into consideration so that rigid artificial buildings could be full of vigor and people could feel relaxed and comfortable while wandering the campus. Nowadays, due to the shortage of urban land as the social economy is developing wildly, the ecological area in college campus is sharply decreased. Consequently, it does become a new challenge for college leaders to design the most optimal Campus Plant Landscape taking advantage of limited space. We investigated the plant landscape of central and south campuses of Shandong Agricultural University and took the records of data for about one year. What’s more, we carried a series of investigating and theoretical research. For instance, we took photos of the whole landscape especially the main landscape nodes of both central and south campuses as well as finishing the investigation of plant species. On the basis of the data mentioned above, we concluded the strong and weak points of both the two campuses through the comparison of the landscape between central campus and south one. The results in this thesis could give some theoretical support and reference to the research on the construction and optimization of campus in China, which could guarantee a better surrounding for people in college campus. Here are the main conclusion of our research:(1)The Evaluation of Campus Plant Landscape NodesWe chose 17 views of central campus and 17 views of south one, and divided people who marked the views into two groups including the specialist one and the amateur one. After the evaluation, we found that the satisfaction percentages of the two groups were high, which took over 88%.The common point of the views which received high evaluation is their reasonable species combination and effective function area arrangement. On the contrary, the disadvantage of the worse views is unreasonable combination of plants species.(2)The Overall Evaluation of Campus Plant LandscapeIn this evaluation, central campus received higher praise compared to the south one.Comparing the whole environment of central campus with the one in south campus, over 90% interviewees favored the plant landscape in central campus while only 70% thought south campus was better. The average score of central campus took up 88 points while the south one only took up 82 points.(3)The Evaluation of Campus Plant Landscape ValueAccording to data in our investigation, most interviewees, taking up the percentage of 99.25%, thought that campus planting landscape construction and management were of great importance. However, about 40% people would not volunteer to pay for the landscape improvement among these interviewees. They argued that college ought to afford all the expenses of landscape construction. On the other side, about 80% of people who would like to pay for the landscape improvements agreed to devote 0-100 yuan per year. Apparently, most interviewees could not accept to pay more than 100 yuan for the landscape construction bill.We calculated the total value of the results in the investigation and the total payment willing worth 2.17 million yuan, which means that the campus landscape in SDAU worth about 2.17 million yuan in students’ imagination. This amazing result reflects that the campus landscape is an essential part of college construction and in the meanwhile, it encourages people to value and protect the plants and landscape in campus.
