Study On The Promotion Of Growth In Pigs By "Gelsemiumelegans(Gardncechamp) Benth"

Gelsemiumelegans (Gardncechamp) Benth, another name is Gouwen, belong to Loganiaceae Gelsemium plant, which is one of the ten wellknown poisonous plants in the world. However, due to special physiological functions of pigs, Gelsemiumelegans is provided with some special actions such as expelling parasites, relieving asthmtica and fattening, as well as the calming and immune effects on pigs, which makes Gelsemiumelegans (Gardncechamp) Benth widely called "ginseng" of pork. In this study, Gelsemiumelegans was usd as an herbal feed additives on feeding experiment, including promoting the growth and immunity-related test on piglets.In testl,20kg weight around, well-developed and healthy piglets of 60 days piglets were chosen for study, which was 72 in a group and divided into three groups 0.3% and 0.5% Gelsemiumelegans additive group was fed for of testing group and routine no additive was fed for control study. After 30 days of study, blood parameters and weight of pigs were measured and analysed. The results showed that Gelsemiumelegans feed additives took a good role in piglet weight,0.5% Gelsemiumelegans additive was 19.40% (P<0.05) than that of control group, the difference was significantly different. The ratio of feed and meat in 0.5% Gelsemiumelegans additive group was 0.25 less than that of control group, and the ratio of feed and meat in 0.3% Gelsemiumelegans additive group was 0.14 less than that of control group. The gross profit of each pig in 0.5% Gelsemiumelegans additive group was 12.44 yuan more than that of control group,; and he gross profit of each pig in 0.3% Gelsemiumelegans additive group was 9.73 yuan more than that of control group, the effect wa significant. In addition, Blood biochemical parameters of Gelsemiumelegans additive group was very similar to that of control group. The result indicated that Gelsemiumelegans additive was an useful additive with functional genetic stability and adaptability in breeding process for piglets.In test 2, Duroc × Landrace × Large Yorkshire fattening pig with 65kg weight around, well-developed and healthy piglets of 111 days fattening pigs were chosen for study, which was 48 in a group and divided into two groups,0.5% Gelsemiumelegans additive group was fed for of testing group and routine no additive was fed for control study. Blood immune parameters and weight of pigs were measured and analysed after 51 days of experiment. The results showed that Gelsemiumelegans feed additives took a good role in fattening pig, the weight of 0.5% Gelsemiumelegans additive was 9.0% (P<0.05) than that of control group, the difference was significantly different. The ratio of feed and meat in 0.5% Gelsemiumelegans additive group was 7.03 less than that of control group. The gross profit of each pig in 0.5% Gelsemiumelegans additive group was 14.74% (29.86yuan)more than that of control group, the effect was significant. In addition, the immune biochemical parameters blood used by Gelsemiumelegans additive group was also higher than that of control group. The result indicated that Gelsemiumelegans additive was an useful additive with immune function and adaptability in breeding process for fattening pigs.In test 3 immune function tests in mice by ethanol crude extract of Gelsemiumelegans was studied. The result showed that many immune biochemical parameters blood in mice used by Gelsemiumelegans additive group was also higher than that of control group. The result indicated that Gelsemiumelegans additive was an useful additive with immune function for testing mice.,In this study, the result showed that Gelsemiumelegans was an useful herb additive with immune function and promotaing growth for pigs, which also indicated that Gelsemiumelegans additive brought about remarkable economic benefit and social benefit, such as reducing the incidence of disease, less ratio of feed and meat, in pigs, which also open up a new territories in the field of ecological environment improvement and circulative economy. In addition, application status and development prospects in livestock production and veterinary practice by Gelsemiumelegans were also discussed in this paper.
