Objective: To study the working mechanism of two kinds of Chinese herbal medicines feed additives which did health care function on the weaned piglets. The Chinese herbal medicines wre consisted of Houttuynia cordata Thunb., Lonicera japonica Thunb. , Astragalus sp., Poria cocos, saposhnikovia divericata etc. We verificated their influence on the immune function , antioxidation, NO and NOS , enzyme , endocrine hormone in the serum of piglets. Methods: A total of 16 dens D*L*Y crossbred piglets with close days were divided into four groups randomly .Two different kinds of Chinese herb feed additives (I and II) and antibiotics were supplemented to 3 groups ,The fourth group(control group) did not supplement any antibiotics(chemical medicament); All the piglets were fed the same basal diets. We selected 4-5 piglets with close weight from every den after weaning on 25 days in the same groups. There wre 18 heads piglets in the new group, The pigs wre fed 28 days after weaning. We observed growth performance of the pigs, and plucked the blood sample at the 1d, 4d, 7d, 14d and 28d after the piglets being weaned .The blood biochemical , immunity function, serum enzyme, endocrine hormone in the serum of piglets were determined. All the datum were dealt with the software of SPSS11.5 , and one-way ANOVA analyzation and the Duncan comparation were used. The results showed as follow: â‘  Growth performance: Daily weight gain in Group â…  and Group â…¡ increaseed by 10.78% (P>0.05) and 11.68% (P>0.05) than the antibiotic group respectively , by 19.69% (P<0.05) and 19.71%(P<0.05) than the control group . The feed transforming rate enhanced by 14.94% and 15.37% than the control group respectively. The diarrhea rates of Group â…  and Group â…¡ were 41.67% and 45.83% lower than the antibiotic group, 68.89% and 75.56% lower than the control group respectively . â‘¡Immune function : The total red blood cells numbers of Group â…  and Group â…¡ elevated by 10.92%(P<0.05) and 9.01%(P<0.05) than the antibiotic group respectively, by 11.69%(P<0.05) and 9.78%(P<0.05) than the control Group â… n 14d after weaning . And the MCH of Group â…  and Group â…¡ is 6.27%(P<0.05) and 5.16%(P<0.05) higher than the control group respectively. 28 days after the piglets being weaned, the total white bloodcells of Group I and Group II were 12.16%(P>0.05) and 21.81%(P>0.05) higher than the control group respectively. The percentage of LYM were higher by 12.98%(P<0.05) and 11.32%(P<0.05) than the antibiotic group, by 13.95%(P<0.05) and 12.27%(P<0.05) than the control group respectively. The total protein in the piglets'serum of Group I and Group II enhanced by 6.77%(P>0.05) and 2.86% (PO.05) than the antibiotic group respectively, by 17.45%(P<0.05) and 13.14%(P<0.05) than the control group respectively; and the globulin were 10.12%(P>0.05) and 3.85%(P>0.05) higher than the antibiotic group, by 38.12%(P<0.05) and 30.25%(P<0.05) higher than the control group. These Chinese herbal medical feed additives can promote the contents of alexin3 and alexin4. 4 days after the piglets being weaned ,the IgA level of Group I and Group II were 42.87%(P<0.01) and 44.69%(P<0.01) higher than the antibiotic group , 55.82%(P<0.05) and 58.82%(P<0.05) higher than the control group. 4 weeks after the piglets being weaned, the percentage of CD3 and CD4 in Group I and Group II were higher than the control groups. The rate of CD4/CD8 in Group I and Group II enhanced by 9.21% (p>0.05) and 5.92% ( p>0.05) than the antibiotic group.elevated by 16.9% ( p<0.05) and 13.38% (p<0.05) than the control group. Percentage of T lymphocyte ANAE+ , Group I improved by 6.44%( p<0.05) than control group, while Group II by 6.22% ( p<0.05) . (3) Antioxidation: The Chinese herbal medical feed additives could elevate the activity of SOD> GSH-Px and CAT .amplify the T-AOC in serum of weaned piglets.4 days after the piglets being weaned , the contents of MDA in piglets'serum of Group I and Group II detracted by 17.77% (p>0.05)and 24.38%(p>0.05)than the antibiotic group's respectively. And by 28.16% (p<0.05)^ 33.93% (p<0.05) than the control group's respectively. The T-AOC in piglets'serum of two Chinese herbal medical feed additive groups heightened by 14.66% (p<0.05) and 15.33% (p<0.05)than the antibiotic group respectively, by 13.91%(p>0.05) and 14.57% (p>0.05) than the control group respectively after the piglets being weaned 7 days. ?No and NOS: After the piglets being weaned 14 days,The contents of NO in Group I and Group II enhanced by 65.75% (p<0.05) and 56.05%(p<0.05) than the control group respectively, while the contents of NO in Group I and Group II enhanced by 41.3%(p<0.05)and 40.15%(p<0.05) after the piglets being weaned 28 days. The activity ofNOS in serum of piglets was descended ,but the activity of NOS in group I higher by3.24%(p>0.05) than the antibiotic group, by 7.65% (p>0.05) than the control group; Group II higher by 8.85% (p>0.05) than the antibiotic group, by 13.5% (p<0.05) than the control group after the piglets being weaned 4 days. The activity of NOS in Group I and Group II higher respectively by 17%(p<0.05) and 16.89% (p<0.05) than the control group after the piglets being weaned 28 days. The activity of iNOS in serum of piglets of the two Chinese herbal medical feed additive groups were lowed than the other groups ,after the piglets being weaned 1 day , the activity of iNOS of Group I brought down by 6.4%(p>0.05) than antibiotic group, by 10% (p>0.05)than the control group. The activity of iNOS of Group II detracted by 6.5%(p>0.05) than the control group. ? Enzyme in serum: After the piglets being weaned 28days,the activity of AKP in serum of Group I and II enhanced by 14.89%(p>0.05)and 16.91%(p>0.05) than the antibiotic group, by 62.77% (p<0.05)and 65.64% (p<0.05) than the control group respectively. The activity of CK in serum of piglets of the two Chinese herbal medical feed additive groups improved by 24.43% (p>0.05) and 17.03% (p>0.05) than the antibiotic group respectively, by 11.47%(p>0.05) and 4.85%(p>0.05) than the control group respectively. The activity of LDH in serum of piglets of Group I and II elevated by 6.5%(p>0.05)and 10.47%(p>0.05) than the antibiotic group, by 10.46% (p>0.05) and 14.57% (p>0.05) than the control group respectively. ? Endocrine hormone : After the piglets being weaned 1 day, the contents of Cortisol in serum of Group I leted down by 33.2% (p<0.05) than the antibiotic group, by 34.57%(p<0.05) than the control group. The contents of Cortisol in the two Chinese herbal medical feed additive groups abased by 57.36% (p<0.05)and 48.76%(p<0.05) than the control group respectively after the piglets being weaned 28 days ,and the contents of Cortisol in serum of antibiotic group degraded by 42.32%(p<0.05) than the control group. After the piglets being weaned 7 days ,the contents of T3 in serum of Group I and Group II boosted by 24.85%(p>0.05) and 23.04%(p>0.05) than the control group respectively , while the contents of T4 boosted respectively by 13.75%(p>0.05) and 20.65%(p<0.05) than the control group. Conclusion: Two Chinese herbal medical feed additives can improve the immune function of the weaned piglets, activate the activity of antioxidase, enhance the antioxidation capacity of the piglets; improve the endocrine capability , weaken the damage of the stress...
