The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of Chinece Herbal Medicine (Pine needle powder, Astragalus powder, Acanthopanax powder) on growth performance, meat quality traits and serum index in forests chicken. A total of 300 ninty-day-old healthy Lu hua broilers were randomly divided into 3 groups, each group containing five replicates of 20 broiers. The control group was fed basic diet, group Ⅰ, Ⅱ were fed with basic diet adding 2%; 4% Chinece Herbal medicine. The trial lasted 61 days:preliminary feeding 5 days and formal trial 56 days. The results showed that Chinece Herbal Medicine:(1)Growth performance:The average daily gain of all the test groups were higher than the control group, and Ⅱ group was significantly increased by 15.11% (P<0.05) compared with the control group; there were no significant differences in the average daily gain between Ⅰ group and Ⅱ group (P>0.05). The dry matter intake of II group was significantly improved by 10.10% (P<0.05) compared with control group. The F/G of Ⅰ and Ⅱ group were decreased compared with control group, the differences were significant between Ⅱ group and control group (P<0.05); with the improvement of the level of the Chinece Herbal Medicine, the F/G was on the falling.(2)Nutrients apparent digestibility:The apparent digestibility of crude protein of Ⅱ group was significantly improved by 3.30%(P<0.05)compared with control group. The apparent digestibility of crude fiber of Ⅱ group were increased by 3.91%(P<0.05) compared with control group. The apparent digestibility of dry matter dry matter, ether extract, ash, Ca (calcium) and P (phosphorus) of of test groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ were higher than the control group, but the differences were not significant (P>0.05).(3)Slaughter performance:With the improvement of the level of the Chinece Herbal Medicine, live weight, the weight of chest and legs were rising, there were no significant differences between groups and the control group (P>0.05).The ratio of chest and legs of test groups were higher than the control group, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05). The ratio of abdominal fat were declining, the difference was not significant(,P>0.05).(4) Meat quality:The drip loss of legs of the test group were lower than the control group, and the difference of Ⅱ group was significant (P<0.05) compared with control group. The shear force of group was lower than control group, but the differences were not significant(P>0.05). There were significant differences in the L, a, b between test group and control group (P<0.05), and Ⅱ group was better. PH24 was not significant(P>0.05).PH24 of chest of the test group were higher than the control group, and the difference of Ⅱ group was significant (P>0.05) compared with control group. The shear force of Ⅱ group was lower than the control group, but there were no significant differences between other groups (P>0.05); b of the test group were lower than the control group (P<0.05).The drip loss, L and a was not significant(P>0.05).(5)Nutrition content of meat:With the improvement of the Chinece Herbal Medicine level, crude protein content and crude ash content in chest and legs were rising, and there were significant differences between test group and the control group (P>0.05); Crude fat content was on the decline, the differences was not significant (P>0.05); There was no significant difference between test group and control group in the water content of meat.(6)Biochemical indexes of blood:The total protein content of test group were higher than control group, and the difference of Ⅱ group was significant(P>0.05) compared with control group; The albumin content of test group were rising. The activity of GOT and GPT of Ⅱ group was significant (P>0.05) compared with control group, but there were no significant differences between other groups(P>0.05). Total cholesterol(TC) with improved levels of Chinece Herbal Medicine, each test group were significantly lower than the control group(P>0.05). Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) of each test group were decreased compared with control group, and the differences were significant between Ⅰ, Ⅱ group and control group (P>0.05); High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), immunoglobulin IgA, IgMand IgG levels of each test group were higher than the control group, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05).(7)Intestinal flora:Lactobacilli was rising with the improvement of the Chinece Herbal Medicine level, and there were significant differences between test group and the control group (P>0.05). At the same time, E. coli was declining with the improvement of the Chinece Herbal Medicine level, the differences of test group were significant compared with control group (P<0.05), and group Ⅱ was the most significant.(8) Meat fibre:The muscle fiber diameter of the groups was rising and the muscle fiber density was on the decline with the improvement of the Chinece Herbal Medicine level, but the differences of muscle fiber density and muscle fiber diameter were not significant (P>0.05). Which demonstrated the dose of Chinece Herbal Medicine had no significant infurence on the trait of muscle fiber.(9) Fatty acid content:With the improvement of the level of Chinece Herbal Medicine, saturated fatty acid content including myristic acid and stearic acid were on the decline, unsaturated fatty acid content were on the rise, the palmitic acid content of group II of legs was significantly increased compared with control group (P<0.05). Essential fatty acid linoleic acid-. linolenic acid and arachidonic acid content were on the rise, the arachidonic acid content of group II was significantly increased by 50%(P<0.05) compared with control group, there were no significant differences in other groups; The palmitic acid content of group II of chest was significantly increased compared with control group(P<0.05), and oleic acid content of group II was significantly increased by 6.76%(P<0.05).The experimental results showed that:supplementation of Chinece Herbal Medicine (Pine needle powder, Astragalus powder, Acanthopanax powder) in the broiers diet can positively enhance growth performance and nutrient apparent digestibility of broiers; Could improve the meat quality traits and intestinal flora; Could increase the content of total protein and decrease the contents of total cholesterol(TC) and triglycerides(TG3), the activity of GOT and GPT; Saturated fatty acid content including myristic acid and stearic acid were on the decline, unsaturated essential fatty acid linoleic acid、linolenic acid and arachidonic acid content were on the rise; There were no significant effects on serum immune index and slaughter performance of the broiers. So based on the growth performance and meat quality of the study, Chinece Herbal Medicine 4%(2%Pine needle powder+1%Astragalus powder+1%Acanthopanax powder) is considered to be the optimal level in the concentration under conditions in this test.
