In order to study the effect of Chinese herbal medicine additive on the growth performance, carcass quality, blood biochemical index and fecal microorganism of pigs, and the practical application effect in the breeding process,we designed the following three experiments:Experiment one: Effects of Chinese herbal medicine additive on growth performance and blood biochemical index of weaning pigletsWe selected 90 heads of 30-days old weanling piglets as the subjects, randomly divided into 3 groups: control group(basal diet),test group I(basal diet + 0.05% addition of Chinese herbal medicine additive),and test group II(basal diet + 0.1% Chinese herbal medicine additive),3 replicates per group,10 pigs per replicate.Test was carried out 30 days, weaning piglets were bled and weighed at 60-days old.The results showed that:(1)The daily weight gain of weaned piglets in the experimental group I and group II was increased by 10.9% and 15.2%,respectively,compared with the control group, and there was no difference in daily feed intake(P>0.05).The feed conversion ratio of weanling piglets in test group I and test group II was reduced by 13.3% and 14.4%,respectively,compared with the control group. The diarrhea rate of weaning piglets in test group I and test group II was reduced by 4.56% and 4.91% compared with the control group,respectively.(2)The TP content of weaning piglets in the experimental group I and group II was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),which was increased by 18.16% and 20.54%,respectively,while the ALT content was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05),decreased by 13.57% and 32.71%,respectively;the content of IGG and IGM were non-significant increased compared with the control group(P>0.05).The other indicators showed no significant differences among the treatments(P>0.05).The experimental study showed that adding moderation of Chinese herbal medicine additive in the diets of weaning piglets is beneficial to increase daily weight gain, reduce the ratio of feed conversion and diarrhea, reduce stress, increase TP content in piglets' blood, and increase the resistance of piglets. The addition of 0.05% Chinese herbal medicine additive is better in this test.Experiment two: Effects of Chinese herbal medicine additive on growth and slaughter performance of fattening pigsWe selected 90 heads of 16-week olds fattening pig as the subjects, randomly divided into 3 groups: control group(basal diet),test group I(0.1% addition of Chinese herbalmedicine additive),and test group II(0.2% Chinese herbal medicine additive),3 replicates per group,10 pigs per replicate.Test was carried out 60 days, fattening pigs were bled and weighed at the end of the experiment, slaughtered one pig each group at the same time. The results showed that:(1)The effect of adding Chinese herbal medicine additives on the growth performance of finishing pigs is significant.(2)Experiments with 0.1% Chinese herbal medicine additive can significantly reduce backfat thickness of fattening pigs. There were no significant differences in other carcass indicators between treatments(P>0.05).(3)The serum ALT levels of the Chinese herbal medicine supplements added 0.1% and 0.2% were significantly different from the control group(P<0.05),but all values were within a reasonable range. There was no significant difference in other serum markers(P>0.05).(2)The ALT of the Chinese herbal medicine additive group, both 0.1% and 0.2% group were significantly different from the control group(P<0.05),and all values were within a reasonable range. There was no significant difference in other serum index(P>0.05).This experiment showed that Chinese herbal medicine additive has an impact on comprehensive muscle shearing force,p H value, drip loss, and other meat quality indicators, indicating that its tendency to improve meat quality.Experiment three: Effects of Chinese herbal medicine additive on fecal microorganism of pigsFresh pig faeces were taken for PCR-DGGE(Polymerase Chain Reaction-Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis,PCR-DGGE)analysis from pigs which used by experiment one and two.The results showed that: There are many microbial species in pigs. There was some difference in fecal microbes between different treatment groups, but not significant.0.05% and 0.1% of Chinese herbal medicine additive had a great influence on the fecal microbiota diversity of weaning piglets. The piglet feces microbes of each weaning piglets group aggregated in the same lane and with high similarity. There was no significant effect on the microbial diversity of fattening pigs' feces. The same treatment of fattening pigs had lower fecal microflora and could not be grouped together. These experiments show that the feeding of Chinese herbal medicine additive can affect the fecal microflora of weaning piglets.During the fattening period, due to the balance of the microflora of the pig's intestine, the individual differences exceed the influence of Chinese herbal medicine additive and the impact on fecal microflora is not significant.
