Malacosoma neustria testacea is one of the main defoliators of Armeniaca vulgaris Lam, Malus pumila Mill, Pyrus sorotina, Crataegus pinnatifida and Juglans et al. Malacosoma neustria testacea distributed widely at home and abroad, especially in many provinces of china. The moth, which devastates trees by eating their leaves, has a serious effect on photosynthetic capability of trees,as a result the output with the quality declining.The experimental results show that the emergence period was found to last for about 35 days, the peak of eclosion observed in late June. The daily emergence peak was from 17:00 to 19:00. The ratio of females to males was 1:1.12 in 2013 and 1:1.26 in 2014, respectively. The average lifespan of virgin females was 4.13±0.142 days, which was shorter than that of unmated males (4.57±0.035d). The Calling behavior happened from 0:00 to 3:00 and the maximum calling occurred during the first night after emergence. The mating peak took place at 2:30 or so. The mating rate was highest in the first night (61.67%±2.89%) and then decreased gradually as females got older. The duration of mating varied from 20 min to 135 min.Following the field trapping experiment, there were no adults to be trapped by unmated male moths or the blank control,while the males were lured to virgin females of different ages. With the lagest number of males trapped by virgin females of 1-day-old, the attractant peak in the dark period was from 2:00 to 3:00. The number of male moths trapped by crude extract of virgin female glands at 1:30 was the largest. The crude gland extract of 1-day-old virgin females had the highest luring activity to the male adults and that of other day old had certain luring activity.The pheromone gland extracts of Malacosoma Neustria Testacea and standard sex pheromone analogues by Chemical synthesis were analyzed by gas chromatogram technique. The retention time of standard compounds Z5E7-12:Ald, Z5E7-12:OH and Z5E7-12:Ac were 16.433±0.018min、 19.074±0.015min and 22.212±0.023min respectively, which were similar to the retention time of three components in sex pheromone gland extracts (16.431±0.035min、19.092±0.047min and 22.249± 0.032min). It can be learned that the sex pheromone of Malacosoma Neustria Testacea probably contain Z5E7-12:Ald, Z5E7-12:OHand Z5E7-12:Ac. The result of field trapping tests showed that Z5E7-12:Ac or Z5E7-12:OH could attract male month and the number of female moth trapped by Z5E7-12:Ac and Z5E7-12:OH mixed with 1:1 was more than single component. But the female moths have better effect on insect-attracting than Z5E7-12:Ac and Z5-12:OH in a ratio of 1:1.
