The present study investigated that the effects of basal diet supplementation with saccharicterpenin on egg production, egg quality, breast muscle and liver of Shaoxing ducks, and studied further on the metabolism mechanism involved in lip metabolism, then provided the appropriate amount of saccharicterpenin supplemented into basal diet for the future researches and pratical applications.300 Shaoxing ducks(just entering the laying period) were selected and then randomly allotted to 4 treatments, and 5 biological replicates per treatment with 15 ducks in each replicate. Group I,II,III,IV were fed with basal diet supplementation with 0,250,500,750mg/kg saccharicterpenin, respectively. Group Ias the control group. These animals were pre-fed for 14 days and fed for 60 days, water were provided freely. Results showed that:(1) The laying rate, the average egg weight and the daily egg weight were significantly improved(P<0.05) with the increasing does of saccharicterpenin in basal diet, and the feed egg ratio were significantly lower(P<0.05) than group Ⅰ(0)(2) The average egg weight, yolk color, average yolk weight, egg yolk ratio were significantly improved(P<0.05) with the incresing does of saccharicterpenin on day 30(3) No significant differnces(P>0.05) were found in egg shell strength, average egg weight, yolk color and egg yolk ratio on day 60; The greatest average albumen height and Haugh were significant difference(P<0.05).(4) The content of crude fat, cholesterol and triglycerides in liver include the content of crude fat and triglycerides in breast muscle were markedly significantly decreased(P<0.05) via the use of saccharicterpenin in basal diet(5) No significant differences(P>0.05) were found in the content of cholesterol in eggs between each test groups.(6) The proportiont of saturated fatty acid(SFA) ratio in liver and breast muscle were significantly decreased(P<0.05),the proportion of monounsaturated fatty acids(MUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA) were significantly improved(P<0.05) via the use of different does of saccharicterpenin in basal diet.(7) The lipase activity(LPS),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) in plasma were significantly increased(P<0.05), But no significant differences(P>0.05) were found in another test groups.(8) The serum IgA,IgM were significantly improved(P<0.05) via the use of saccharicterpenin supplemented in basal diet(9) The expression of CYP7A1 and SREBP-2 gene in liver were presented an increasing trend with the increasing does of saccharicterpenin supplemented in basal diet, and the expression of CYP7A1 and SREBP-2 gene in group Ⅱ(250) and Ⅲ(500) were significantly greater(P<0.05) than group Ⅰ(0),respectively.(10) Taking tofether from the egg production and egg quality, the best does of saccharicterpenin for Shaoxing duck reached 250~500 mg/kg.Studies suggested that saccharicterpenin can improve the average egg weight, daily egg weight and egg yolk ratio; reduce the content of crude fat and triglycerides in liver and breast muscle, and the content of cholesterol in liver; affect the proportion of different fatty acids affect in liver and breasr muscle and blood biochemicle index; improve the expression of CYP7A1 and SREBP-2 gene in liver.
