Truck is a kind of transport vehicle which is suitable for merchant and domestic. It has good off-road performance and cargo capacity, and is of car-like comfort. With the development of China’s agricultural modernization, and the implementation of intensive management policy of rural land gradually extending and farmers’ living standard will gradually improving, truck will become an important transport tools for agricultural goods and passenger. At the same time, the future of our country will perform increasingly stringent emissions regulations and lower fuel consumption limits standards for vehicle. It forces truck not only has strong power, but also has a good economy and emissions performances. However, to some extent there are mutual restraints between the power and good performances of economy and emissions. Therefore, it brings difficult challenges in the engine selection and gearbox matching to truck.In order to cope with the future stringent regulations of energy saving and emission reducing, we should carry out engine re-selection, further optimization of the gearbox and gear shifting strategy. In this paper, the author set up a simulation model which based on statics, dynamic and kinematics. Employing the truck’s performance of power, fuel consumption and emission as the target of optimization, this paper carry out engine re-selection and further optimize for the gearbox system by applying the simulation model.Have studied engine re-selection, the results show that, in three optional engines, the truck has always the best dynamic performance and the lowest fuel consumption per 100 km with different loading weight when it equip with engine T20. Naked poisonous emissions of three engines have failed to meet State Emission Standards IV and V, which can achieve the standard V in the condition of adopting exhaust gas purification device.Have studied gearbox re-matching and gear shifting strategy optimization, the results show that, the performance of dynamic can meet the development goals, be of lower fuel consumption per 100 km, and obtains a more economical shift strategy under no-load conditions. All of results are in the condition of that the truck equip with engine T20 and optimized gearbox.Comprehensive analysis, comparing with the old truck, the new truck, equipping with T20 engine and optimized gearbox, can enhance dynamic performance, improve fuel economy. Therefore, this study considers that the truck equip with engine T20 and employ optimized gearbox is a better solution, which is feasible.
