Vegetables and fruits are essential food in people’s daily life. However, due to the deterioration of agricultural ecological environment and the unreasonable use of pesticides, the pollution on vegetables and fruits are becoming more and more serious.Pesticide residues in vegetables and fruits are not only harmful to people’s health, but also affect the export of fruits and vegetables.The aim of this study was to analyze the causes of pesticide residues in vegetables and fruits in Shaoxing, and to provide technical support to the regulatory authorities.In this study, the samples of 2440 batches of vegetables and 855 batches of fruit samples were collected from Shaoxing area during 2012-2014, the pesticide residues were detected and statistically analyzed.Generally, the pesticide residue contamination on fruits and vegetables showed the following feathers according to the pesticide species, vegetable species, season and origin of the investigated sample: 1) The hypertoxic and forbidden pesticides, such as methamidophos、carbofuran and phorate still could be detected in the vegetables and fruits.2) The median toxic pesticides such as chlorpyrifos-ethyl,acephate and triazopos have been detected in a wide range of samples with the residue above the limitation of Chinese national standard.3) The low toxic pesticides such as pyrethroids,bactericide have been widely found in vegetables and fruits with high dosage amount.4) Higher pesticide contamination has been observed in leaf vegetables, solanaceous vegetables and legume vegetables, whereas, the bactericide has been found to be widely used in berries.5)Vegetables from small local grower have been proven to have worse safety than large scale plantation.6) Compared to others, higher pesticide residue has been observed in the greenhouse vegetables and fruits.In this work, we propose series actions to decrease the issues caused by the pesticides applied in the vegetables and fruit in Shaoxing region. There are improving agricultural ecological environment, promoting of physical and biological control techniques,promoting of low toxicity,low residue pesticides,establishing and perfecting the pesticide managements system, promoting scale and standardization of agricultural production, strengthening the construction of agricultural product quality detection system, implementing the production license for the agriculture producing area, market permission license and quality tracking system.
