| Shi fang area is famous for producing cigar. But recent years, the shortage of excellent cigar-type tobacco varieties has been a major restrictive condition for the development of cigar. In this paper, three cigar varieties (KDH, KDL, KSJ-1), origi n from central America, were introduced to Shi fang. To evaluate their cultural suit ability in Shi fang area, growth duration after transplant, botanical characters, agron omic traits, chemical components and smoking quality of each variety were analyze d and compared with local variety (K2). The experimental results are as follows:1. The growth duration after transplant of three testing varieties were shorter th an the check variety (K2). KDH had the shortest days of growth period(79d); follo wed by KDL(83d), and KSJ-1 (84d). On the agronomic traits, most indices of KDL and KSJ-1 were superior to the check variety, while KDH was slightly poor. The botanical characters of three varieties were all superior to K2, KDL and KSJ-1 had optimum plant shape. KDL had the highest germination rate as 95%, and the heav iest thousand seed weight,0.118g; its seed quality was significantly better than the other two testing varieties. The germination rate of KSJ-1 was higher than KDH, w hich germination rate was only 80%. But the thousand seed weight of KSJ-1 was 1 ower, only 0.03g.2. On chemical components, the middle leaves had relatively lower chlorine ion content. Except for KDL, the chlorine ion content of upper leaves of other varieties was higher than lower leaves, while KDL had the contrary case. Except for middle leaves and lower leaves of KSJ-1, and middle leaves of KDL, the content of petroleum ether extract of the rest samples were all suitable. Among them the content of petroleum ether extract of each part of K2 and KDH were slightly higher. For nicotine content, the lower leaves of all varieties, the middle leaves of KDL and KSJ-1 had a moderate content of nicotine, the rest were all had a higher content. Except for upper leaves of KSJ-1 and middle leaves of K2 were lower, all samples had a moderate content of potassium.As for differences of volatile components, K2 had the highest content of lipid and heterocyclic compound, but a relatively lower content of terpene, lactone and carbonyl compound. Suggesting its volatile components content was not coordinated. KSJ-1 had a higher content of organic acid and terpene, but the lowest content of heterocyclic compound and alcohol. KDL and KDH had better coordination, and had a moderate content of volatile components.3. Middle leaves of KDL had better flavor, less vestigital and better state, thus had the best comprehensive evaluation. Middle leaves of KSJ-1 ranked second because of its special aroma. Taste qualities of upper and middle leaves of KDH were heavily, and its combustibility and ash color were relatively poor. K2 had worse flavor, relatively insufficient frangrance, strength gas fume, poor smooth of gas fume. Thus had worst comprehensive evaluation.4. The grey relational analysis was carried out in comparison of comprehensive characters. Results suggested that the rank of weighted relevance were KDL, KSJ-1, K2 and KDH. According to the ranking we could consider that under the same cultivation and sun-cure conditions, the comprehensive quality of KDL and KSJ-1 were all superior to the K2, and the best one was KDL5. KDH had the highest yield, reaching 2078.7kg/hm2. Whereas KSJ-1 had the lowest yield. KDL and KSJ-1 had the highest and lowest production value respectively.KSJ-1 and KDH had the highest and lowest average price respectively.In conclusion, KDL had good smoking quality, relatively higher yield and production value, thus was suitable for culture in Shi fang. KSJ-1 had coordinating chemical component, special gas fume, could conduct further planting experiment. KDH had high yield but each quality indices were poor, it was not suitable for planting in Shifang. |
