The main seedling technology is moist flue-cured tobacco seedling in Longyan area, which overcame effectively a large number of invalid roots and slow reestablishment of floating seedling, and serious soil-borne diseases of nourishment-bag temporary planting seedling. It was the development direction of flue-cured tobacco seedling technology. However, its clipping method still referred to floating seedling technology. So far, no research on the matching clipping technology and its effects on yield and quality of tobacco have been reported. In order to improve the quality of moist flue-cured tobacco seedling, the differences of seedling quality, yield and leaf quality of different clipping treatment were compared in this paper, the results were as follows.1. Effects of the different clipping method on the tobacco seedling quality. With the clipping degree and clipping times increased, the stem length of tobacco seedlings was shortened, its stem girth was gradually increased, its leaves number reduced; the fresh weight, dry weight and their ratio of stems and leaves declined; the fresh weight, dry weight and their ratio of tobacco root were increased; the fresh weight and dry weight of the ratio of root and crown of tobacco seedlings were increased, the ratio of stems and leaves weight were declined, and that of root weight were increased; the total length, surface area, volume, diameter and second level lateral roots number of tobacco seedlings root were obviously increased; the chlorophyll and soluble sugar content of the stems and leaves of the tobacco seedlings reduced; the vitality, the total absorption area and active absorption area of tobacco seedlings root were increased at first and then decreased at last. Thus, with the clipping degree and clipping times increased, the growth of tobacco seedling root were improved, the growth of stems and leaves were inhibited, and the seedling quality were enhanced at first and then deceased at last.2. Effects of different clipping method on the plant growth in the field. With cut leaves degree and cut leaves times of increased, the effective leaves number, plant height, stems girth, and maximum leaves area of the tobacco plant were at first increased and then reduced at last; the chlorophyll and soluble sugar content of the stems and leaves of the tobacco seedlings reduced; the vitality, the total absorption area and active absorption area of tobacco seedlings root were increased at first and then decreased at last. Thus, with the clipping degree and clipping times increased, the growth of tobacco plant were improved at first and then deceased at last.3. Effects of the different clipping methods on economic characters and quality of flue-cured tobacco leaves.According to the yield, output value, average price, proportion of the finest tobacco leaves and proportion of tobacco leaves of medium quality of all treatments; total sugar, reducing sugar, total nitrogen, nicotine, potassium, chlorine, total sugar minus reducing sugar, total nitrogen/nicotine, total sugar/nicotine and potassium/chlorine of all treatments; style characteristics, sweet sense, aroma quality, aroma quantity, physiological strength, concentration, fineness, irritancy, offensive taste, pleasant finish and score of all treatments, the treatment of which 2 times leaf-cut and 2/4 area each time was the best one, followed by the treatment which 3 times leaf-cut and 2/4 area each time. The two treatments above can be applied in Longyan tobacco planting area.
