As a traditional Chinese medicine, Prunella vulgaris L. has been widely recognized at home and abroad. Market demanding is very huge in recent years, but there are still many problems on the quality of its resources and planting cultivation. Use of space technology for carrying Prunella vulgaris L. seeds to space, and induce them by space mutagenesis. Based on previous research(Ma Nan(2014), Cai Jianle(2015)), to continue breeding generations SP3 and research the space mutagenesis’ effects on biology Character and active ingredient of Prunella vulgaris L.And then, selecting high-yield and high-quality species of genetical y stable Prunella vulgaris L, solve the problems of shortage of resources and poor variety.The results of Prunella vulgaris L. SP3 generation as follows:1. Effect of agronomic traits and biological characteristics with Prunella vulgaris L. SP3 generation by space mutagenesis: Space mutagenesis on changing of the SP3 generation whole growth process has the role of inhibition general y, specific performance: There is a certain rate delays on plant growth and development, plant height and crown width were growing slower than the control group. The bolting stage, initial blooming stage, full blooming stage and maturing stage of ear also delayed 4-7 days than the control group. So that the whole plant type becomes smal, the total plant biomass and yield of the ear are reduced, plant height, crown, main stem wide, branch stem wide, ear length, and ear diameter all less than the control group. Fresh weight, dry weight, number of ears, dry weight of ears reduction compared to the control group were 15.88%, 14.8%, 10.30% and 11.74%. Yield per plant and plant height, crown width and aboveground biomass has a significant positive correlation; Space mutagenesis makes Prunella vulgaris L. SP3 Generation ear seeds 1000-grain weight and germination rate increased, water content decreased.2. Effects on active ingredient of Prunella vulgaris L. SP3 Generation by space mutagenesis: promote the accumulation of total phenol, total flavonoids, rosemary acid content of the SP 3 generation ears, but no significant and regularity effect on caffeic acid and ferulic acid. Total phenol content of the test group is 7.17mg/g, was increased by 14.35% than CK group, and the total flavonoid content 27.77mg/g increased 9.37%.Rosmarinic acid content 0.360% also improved significantly than the control group’s 0.315%, and significantly higher than the required standards with≥0.2% by Pharmacopoeia of the People’s Republic of China( 2010 Edition, Volume I).3. The selection of Prunella vulgaris L. SP3 generation: On the basis of study of biological characters and active components accumulation of the SP3 generation, selected high-quality strains NO.72, 23, 56, 40-10 F, 5-5, 25, 72-3, 20, 52, 17, 40 with high content of rosmarinic acid, and high-yielding strains NO.17, 40, 28, 23, 26, 5-5 and 5.Selected four potential elite plant strains: NO.17, 40, 23 and 5-5, which with both high content of rosmarinic acid and highyielding.
