In recent years, vegetables safety events continuously occur. Its quality and safety is closely watched. At the same time, China’s vegetable exports profits lost a lot due to quality problems every year. The producers of vegetables are called as farmers in this paper. Vegetable farmers’unreasonable application of pesticides is the source and crucial reason of the vegetable quality and safety. The farmers use high toxic pesticide and excessively use pesticides, they are an important factor of pesticide residues on vegetables. To save time and labors, most farmers pursuit fast and efficient pesticides, they prefer ready availability, low price. Some farmers still use high toxic pesticides which are banned. Therefore, strengthening the management of safety in production for vegetables and improving safety and quality of vegetables is every important in our country, to ensure domestic consumers safety vegetables, as well as the promotion of the competitiveness of the vegetables in the world.In this article, the vegetable farmers using pesticide behavior refers to the act of vegetable farmers choose pesticide varieties, including vegetable farmers using the safe pesticides and unsafe pesticides. Many factors affect farmers when they select pesticides. Exploring these factors is the key point for government making the policy and guiding farmers to use safety pesticides.On the basis of existing literature research at home and abroad, combining the theory of farmer’s behavior theory, food safety and farmer’s economic theory, through designing the questionnaire and obtaining first-hand data of the farmers’behavior. This article choose 11 variables. This paper adopts logistic regression model to study factors affecting the behavior of farmers in Shandong province, carried on the empirical analysis, finally get the following conclusion:Young adults in vegetable growers are less, most are middle-aged and old, middle-aged and old people accounted for 69.6% of the total number of samples, and the level of education is generally low. junior middle school and the following vegetable farmers account for 63.5% of the samples; during the surveyed 293 farmers, a small number of farmers still use high toxicity, high residue pesticides. The main influencing factors of behavior is the attention to the safety of vegetable, tested when selling, level of education, spraying vegetables cognitive harm to one’s health, age, and the main source of income. According to the research conclusion put forward,the following suggestions was given: improve farmers cognition about the importance of vegetable safety, intensify propaganda, such as national disabled high toxic pesticide; Increase investment in rural education, to improve the quality of the rural labor force; Carry out various forms of training activities of science and technology, improve the level of farmers planting technology of vegetables; Improve vegetable quality and safety traceability system, establish "from farm to table" the whole process of vegetables certification management system; Give full play to the government’s public management and service function, improve the vegetable market.
