Epipremnum aureum is a common flower plants. However, the study of ep ipremnum aureum on heavy metal pollution renovation has rarely been studied.Copper(Cu) and Chromium(Cr) are common heavy metal pollutants in the d omestic water. The underground water was polluted when surface water recharg ed with it. Copper is a trace element required for plant growth. Low concentra tion can promote plant growth, while high concentration can produce toxic to plants, such as yellow-green chlorosis and rot roots. In this thesis, by indoor h ydroponic experiments, the enrichment effect of the plant on the heavy metal p ollutes was discussed and the influence of heavy metal on the growth of the p lant was also studied. This provided certain theoretical foundation for the phyto remediation of heavy metal polluted water. Moreover, the influence of Epiprem num aureum on the ferrite(Fe) and manganese(Mn) polluted water was consi dered. The main research results were as follows:1. The influence of Epipremnum aureum on the removal of Cu was studied. The results showed that the concentration of Cu decreased with the extension time of filtering effect of the plant. The removal rate decreased with the time and then reach equilibrium.2. The ecological effect of Epipremnum aureum on removal of the heavy metal in the water related to the species and concentration of the metals. The concentration of Cr was almost unchanged, however, the plant had adsorption effect to it because of the toxic symptoms when there was a certain content of Cr in water.3. The situation was different when both Cu and Cr were in water. Under the same conditions, the removal effect of Epipremnum aureum to Cr was better than that to Cu. When there was only Cr in water, the plant had no removal effect to it. However, the plant can decrease the concentration of Cr by 86%. This phenomenon indicated that the presence of Cu promoted the absorption of Cr by Epipremnum aureum.4.The heavy metal enrichment of Epipremnum aureum to the polluted water different ratio of Cu/Cr was discussed. When the ratio of Cu/Cr was 1.5:1, the accumulation of Cr in the root reach up to 11.94 mg.g-1, which was higher than other ratio systems. When the ratio of Cu/Cr was 1:1, the accumulation in the root reach up to 1.378 mg.g-1. From the results, there were more heavy metals adsorbed by Epipremnum aureum distributed in the root than in the aerial portion(stem and leaves). Compared with the single component heavy metal polluted water, the plant had a pourer endurance to the Cu/Cr polluted water and a higher enrichment amount. The experiments showed that the plant had a strong renovation ability to the Cu and Cr polluted water and can be an alternative plant for their removal.
