| Camellia chrysantha has significant values for medicinal use and health care as well as extensive application prospects, whose products have great market demands. In this article, comparison was used for analysis of economic/ecological/social benefits as well as the feasibility of camellia chrysantha, which were planted within Pinus massoniana forests in Seven Slope tree farm. The research results are shown as the following:1. Three Pinus massoniana forests with different canopy densities and drainage conditions were chosen to carry out contrastive planting test of golden camellia chrysantha. The result showed that growth of Camellia chrysantha was maximized in condition with canopy density around 0.6, good drainage environment as well as uneasy water accumulation. After 3 years’planting of Camellia chrysantha, its survival rate was 90% and it could reach 158 cm of tree height,120 cm of crown breadth and 3.1 cm of ground diameter. After 3 years’planting, its flowers, fresh leaves and buds could be plucked with annual 0.5 kg of flowers,1.5 kg of fresh leaves and 0.8 kg of buds per plant. Due to this, after the second interval-cutting of pure Pinus massoniana forests, the outcome could be 1.68 million RMB/hectare(ha) for pure pine forests with interplant of Camellia chrysantha than those without it (2 cutting circles of 32 years). Planting of Camellia chrysantha within Pinus massoniana forests also improves soil structure, helps to maintain water and soil, benefits water conservation, reduces flood/drought, which has remarkable ecological effects.2. Based on this, construction planning and design were made for planting base of Camellia chrysantha within Pinus massoniana forests in Seven Slope tree farm. The optimal 66.7 acres with best plating conditions such as near to the road, relatively slow slope, uneasy water accumulation etc. in the forest was selected for planting of Camellia chrysantha. Also, measures such as soil preparation, ridge digging, basal dressing, ridge backfilling, top application and pruning etc. were applied in the forest. Eventual outcome of Camellia chrysantha were expected to output 33.3 tons of flowers,133.3 tons of fresh leaves and 66.7 tons of buds, with average total gross income of 12 million RMB annually. With deduction of construction investment costs, operational costs and enterprise income tax, the average annual net income within construction and operation period could reach 3.097 million RMB and the payback period is around 6 years. Meanwhile, it could provide nearly 100000 man-days for social employment to create great social benefits. |
