Film is one of the important material of agricultural production and since the plastic film mulching cultivation technology introduced into our country, it got a wide range of promotion. Xinjiang is one of the main film application areas in China, crop yield was increased significantly after the application of plastic film mulching cultivation techniques. However, the Polyethylene film used in current farmland has a long degradation cycle, which made the film left in the field and caused a serious pollution to the environment after harvest. Especially, it affects the normal agricultural operations, such as seeding, which reduces the seed germination rate. This paper analyzes the case of the residual film recycling machinery at home and abroad. By drawing lessons from the domestic mature mechanical recycling experience and according to the actual requirements of Xinjiang for residual film recycling machinery, the spring-tooth-chain-rake incomplete plastic film recycling machine was designed and its working mechanism was proved and its key components was analyzed by using the finite element software and optimized its structure. Through the field test of membrane recycling, the key performance indicators of the spring-tooth-chain-rake incomplete plastic film recycling machine were detected. The main contents are shown as follows:(1) The residual film recovery conditions before planting were determined. The distribution characteristics of residual film in earth’s surface and area characteristics of plastic film are obtained by field measurements and statistics before sowing. The tensile properties and adsorption properties of residual film were determined by the test. Through the experiment, the moisture content and soil bulk density of the soil before planting were determined.(2) The working principle of spring-tooth-chain-rake incomplete plastic film recycling machine was analyzed. Through the analysis of movement process of the spring tooth, the movement trajectory equation of spring tooth endpoint was obtained. According to the preliminary data, the structure of the spring-tooth-chain-rake incomplete plastic film recycling machine was designed. Stress analysis for it in the three scenarios, respectively, stationary state, working condition and discharge state.(3) The maximum stress is 37.88 Mpa and the biggest variable is 0.17 mm of chassis when it is under the stationary state by finite element analysis software ANSYS. The maximum stress is 72.04 Mpa and the biggest variable is 2.59 mm of chassis when it’s under working state. These two states above chassis meet the design requirements. However, the maximum stress is 272.98 MPa and the biggest variable is 22.29 mm when it’s under the condition of unloading membrane frame, the chassis doesn’t meet the design requirements, so the chassis needs to be optimized. The maximum stress is 114.75 MPa and the biggest variable is 22.29 mm after optimization. At this time, the chassis meets the design requirements. The maximum stress is 552.08 MPa and the biggest deformation is 1.88 mm of spring tooth when it picks up plastic film which meet the design requirements.(4) Through the field experiment, the key performance indicators of the spring-tooth-chain-rake incomplete plastic film recycling machine were detected. It includes the recovery rate of plastic film,operating speed, and operating depth. Besides, the recovery effect of plastic film with different sizes was detected.
