In this paper, the hepatoprotective effects of the ethyl acetate extract of Lepisorus ussuriensis were evaluated in D-galactosamine/lipopolysaccharide induced hepatic failure in mice. The ethyl acetate extract of L.ussuriensis reduced alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in serum, and increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and dicreased malondialdehyde (MDA) content in liver, The ethyl acetate extract of L.ussuriensis has a protective effect against the induction of hepatic failure in mice by D-galactosamine and lipopolysaccharide.Six compounds were isolated from ethyl acetate extract of L.ussuriensis by methods of silica gel column and Rp C18 silica gel column. The structures of these compounds was elucidated on the basis of physicochemical and spectroscopic methods, including 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectra, named as:2-propenoic acid-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-ethyl ester (1),4-ethoxybenzoic acid (2), eriodictyol-7-O-glucoside (3),4’,5,7-trihydroxy-3-methoxy flavone-7-O-β-D-glucoseide (4),3’,4’,5,7-tetrahyd-roxy-3-methoxy flavone-7-O-β-D-glucoside (5),2-(3,4-dihy-droxyphenyl)ethyl-6-[3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-2-propenoate]-β-D-glucoside (6). All of the compounds show-ed protection on tacrine induced cytotoxicity in Hep G2 cell line.
