Background:Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common maligant tumor which incidence rates worldwide have been on an upward trend. Although surgery is the most important method to cure CRC, the5-year survival rate after surgery is about50%. The important cause are prone to recurrence and metastasis. Chemotherapy is hitting a plateau despite many new molecule-targeting agents become available because of the expensive price, limited effect, toxic and side effect. Currently, many clinical studies reveal the Chinese medicine plays an important role in combination therapy of CRC. Chinese medicine has been proven such clinical efficacy as anti-metastasis and anti-relapse, little toxic side effects, prolonged survival time, improved quality of life. However, the recent clinical researches of traditional Chinese medicine for colorectal cancer meet several questions, such as poor quality, seldom describe the randomization methods, the existence of bias and so on, which is difficult to convince people. So a large sample, multi-center, randomized, double-blind, randomized controlled trial in strict compliance with the principle of controlled clinical trials conducted to further validate the efficacy of colorectal cancer in Chinese medicine to treat colorectal extended to provide a more reliable clinical evidence. Objective:To observe the Integrated Treatment of colon cancer after long-term effect. Methods:Collected the patients who have treated at The Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from May2007to February2012and in line with the standards, then deal with the relevant information for retrospective analysis of collating, filled out registration forms, and telephone follow-up. follow-up results of clinical data entered into the database, SPSS19.0software was used to analysis the collected data. Results:The survival rate of integrated traditional and western group is higher than the rate of western group with significant difference. Compared with western group, the mean survival time is prolonged5.594months and the median survival time is prolonged6months in integrated traditional and western group. Chinese traditional medicine take longer than three months and less than three months make no significant difference in survival time and survival rate. Cox regression show that TNM stage, intestinal polyp, metastasis and relapse, positive rise of tumor markers, treatment of TCM, Chemotherapy have statistical significance in the survival of colorectal cancer patients. TNM stage, intestinal polyp, metastasis and relapse, positive rise of tumor markers are dangerous factors, treatment of TCM and Chemotherapy are protective factor. Conclusions:The treatment of integrated traditional and western medicine may increase survival rate and prolong survival time compared with western medicine treatment. The herbal medicine according to differentiation of symptoms and signs may provide better benefits for postoperative patients.
