Artemisia rupestris L. is a member of Artemisia genus, composite family. The whole plant is used as a herbal medicine of Kazak and Uygur in Xinjiang province of P. R. China. In this thesis, chemical constituents from95%ethanol extract of A. rupestris L. were studied.17compounds were isolated by various chromatography methods (Silica gel, ODS, Sephadex LH-20, Pre-HPLC), in which16compounds were elucidated by their spectral data (IR, UV, ESI-MS, HR-ESI-MS,1H-NMR,13C-NMR, HSQC, HMBC, ROESY). The structures of the16compounds were elucidated as5-hydroxy-7,8,3’,4’-tetramethoxyflavone (1), tricin (2), tricin-7-O-β-D-glucopyran-oside (3), kaempferide (4), kaempferide-7-O-glucoside (5), luteolin (6), apigenin (7),5-hydroxy-2’,3’,4’,7,8-pentamethoxy flavone (8),5,6,8,4’-tetrahydroxy-7,3’-dimeth-oxyflavone (9),10-norparvulenone (10), isosclerone (11), rupestonic acid (12), antiquorin (13), strobilactones (14),1α, 5α-epoxy-4α-hydroxyl-4β,10β-dimethyl-7αH,10αH-guaia-11(13)-en-12-oic acid (15),1α-hydroxyl-10β-methyl-7αH,10αH-guaia-4(15),11(13)-en-12,5-oic acid (16), Among them, compounds15and16are new compounds. Compounds1,2,3,4,5,8,9,10,11,13, and14were isolated form A. rupestris L. for the firtst times. In conclusion, the current research has provided theoretical and experimental basis for the further development and quality control of A. rupestris L..
