There were two Shaanxi native species,Pyrola calliantha H. Andr. and Pyrola decorata. In this paper, the Folin-Ciocalteu method was employed to calculate the total phenoliccontent, and the sodium nitrite-aluminum nitrate method was determined of total flavonoidscontent, while antioxidant activity was assayed by DPPH radical scavenging activity, ABTSmethod and Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay. And with this method calledmycelial growth rate and the filter paper method, compare and contrast the strength ofantibacterial activity of these two species Pyrola, as well as with the correlation of theirpolyphenol content and total flavonoid content.(1)The results showed that, after crude extracting, Pyrola calliantha H. Andr. andPyrola decorata both contain polyphenols and flavonoids. The polyphenols content of Pyrolacalliantha H. Andr. was185.81mg/g, significantly higher than the content of P. decorata(133.81mg/g), and the average content of total phenolic in P. Calliantha H. Andr. is1.39timeshigher than in P. decorata; The total flavonoid content of Pyrola calliantha H.Andr.(40.40mg/g) was significantly higher than the content of P. Decorata (17.05mg/g), andthe average content of total flavonoid in P. Calliantha H. Andr. is2.37times higher than in P.Decorata;(2)For each parts of it in each species, the distribution of polyphenols and flavonoids isconsistent, and the descending order is: leaves> whole plant> root> flowers, the biggestcontent gap exists between in leaves and flowers, and the part of the highest content of activeingredients is leaf;(3)The results of three methods of free radical scavenging capacity are consistent, whichthe antioxidant ability of P. calliantha H. Andr. is better than P. decorata, the measurementresults show that the antioxidant capacity and polyphenol content of2kinds of Pyrola specieswere positively correlated;(4)About antimicrobial activity, three different extract of species Pyrola of differentconcentrations have a certain inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli andBacillus subtilis, which inhibitory effect was positively correlated with the concentration. For these three kinds of extract, the inhibitory effect of Escherichia. coli is the strongest, followedby Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus was the worst;(5)With regard to the inhibition of fungal pathogens, three different extract of speciesPyrola all have a strong inhibitory effect on Botrytis cinerrea (FH), Physalosporapiricola(PL), Rhizoctonia cerealis (XW), Glomerella cingnlata (PT), Phacidiopycniswashingtonensis (PG).It can be drawn that Pyrola calliantha H. Andr. and Pyrola decorataboth have strong antibacterial properties. The study found that the two Shaanxi native species contain certain active ingredients, and have some antioxidant and antibacterial properties. The comparison of inter-speciesshowed that Pyrola calliantha has the higher content of the active ingredient, and thebiological activity of is stronger. It can be summarized that Pyrola calliantha can be thedominant species for further research and development.
