Ginger is a perennial herb of Zingiber officinale(Willd)Rosc. It’s three kinds ofprocessed products: dired ginger、processed ginger and charcoaled ginger exhibit differ-rent therapeutic effects respectively. Fresh ginger has warm application, and it disper-es cold of body and stops vomiting through warming up the body.and I t removes phle-gm and excessive moisture accumulated in the body through warming up the body.It isgood at treating abdominal pain, diarrhea and cold limbs accompanied with weak pulse.Dried ginger can remove the phlegm liquid in the lung and alleviate stagnation in thecirculatory system through warming up the body.It is skilled in treating abdominal pain,vomiting,diarrhea and asthmatic cough. Charcoaled ginger possesses haemostatic effectthat is much better than processed ginger. It can warm up the meridians, though this effe-ct is not as good as the processed ginger. It can be adept at curing all types of bleedingdue to coldness, especially in acute bleeding.Charcoaled ginger is widely used in clinical,but it is relatively lack of study on it.Itonly reports that Charcoaled ginger can significantly shorten the clotting time,but it isnot systematic research about basic of charcoal ginger’s hemostatic efficacy。So wohope separate and identify the chemical composition of charcoaled ginger with thehelp of chemical means,and which provides a scientific basis on processing mechanismof charcoal ginger and reasonable,effe-ctive and safety use in the clinic.the dried ginger were cooked into carbon ginge by hot sand, which was extractedwith95%ethanol twice under reduced pressure to a small volume.The concentratedliquor was subejected to solvent-solvent partitioning with petroleumm ether, ethyl ace -tate, n–butanol respectively.Each part was concentrated under reduce press. In thisstudy, petroleum ether and ethyl acetate extract were segregated over Sephadex LH-20,ODS, MCI and silica gel column repeatedly,.20compounds were isolated and purifie-d.On basis of spectral and chemical evidence such as1H-NMR,12C-NMR, EI-MS andCG-MS etc, structures of16compounds wre elucidated.Among these compounds,12compounds existed between carbon ginger the dried ginger and they was first isolatedfrom carbon ginger, such as compound1(3-acetyl-β-sitosterol), compound3(4[2-(5-Butyl-2-yl) ethyl]-2-methoxy-phenol), the compound4(β-sitosterol), comp-ound5(8-zingerone phenol), compound6(10–gingerdione), compound7(6–zin-giberene phenol), the compound8(6-zingerone phenol), compound9(diacetyl-6-gingerol), compound12(6–gingerol), compound14(3–acetyl stigmasterol),comp-ound15(1-ene-10-dione ginger), the compound16(3,5-dihydroxy-7-(4–hydro-xyl-3-methoxy)-1-(3,4–dihydroxy-5-methoxy)–heptane).and compound2(di-butylbenzene-1,2-diCarboxylate) compound10(catechol), compound11(zingeron-e),compound13(1,2,4,5-four hydroxyphenol) were a unique from carbon ginger.
