Objective:To determine the difference between uygur and han elderly, diferen t gender,different age, and to explore the relationship between serum levels of oste oprotegerin(OPG) and bone mineral density abnormal in xinjiang area elderly. Met hod:Three hundreds and twelve elderly(≥60 years old) in cadre wards of the Firs t Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University between october 2011 and dec ember 2013 were selected. These lumbar and left proximal femur bone mineral den sity(BMD) were detected using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA).Then,all t he selected subjects were divided into 2 groups according to the WHO criteria:the abnormal bone mass group(the low bone mass group,and the osteoporosis group) 199 patients, the control group 113 patients.And the serum levels of OPG were det ected using ELISA. Results:(1) The serum levels of OPG in abnormal bone mass groupl.588(1.559)ng/ml is lower than the normal bone mass group2.062(1.606)ng/ ml, (Z=1.531, P=0.018);According to the national stratification comparison:the t wo groups had no statistical significance (P>0.05);By gender stratification compari son:the serum levels of OPG in men 1.481(1.410)ng/ml is lower than the control group2.062(1.606)ng/ml, (Z=1.732, P=0.05)in male;While not find the differences between in the two groups in women(P>0.05). (2) The serum level of OPG wasl. 503(1.033)ng/ml in Uighur groups lower than the Han group 1.971(1.805)ng/ml low er (Z=1.834,P=0.002);Stratified by gender:The serum level of OPG concentration 1. 474(0.729)ng/ml in male Uighur compared with Han Chinese men 2.062(1.712)ng/m 1 is significantly lower (Z=2.215,P=0.000), whereas there was no significant differe nce in the women (P>0.05); by case control stratification:The serum level of OPG concentration 1.772(1.044)ng/ml in Uighur population of normal bone mass lower than those with normal bone mass Han 2.303 (2.031)ng/ml (Z=1.404,P=0.039), whil e there was no significant difference in the low bone mass of two ethnic (P>0.05). (3) The serum levels of OPG was no statistically significant between 60~70 age group and> 70 age group (P>0.05). (4) The Spearman partial correlation analysis results indicate:the serum level of OPG was negatively associated with BMD-T va lue of Iumbar2 (L2)、L3、L4、Ltotal、Neck、greater trochanter (G.T)、InterTr o、Hip location in female Han, (r=-0.235~-0.333,P=0.02~0.032); The serum evel of OPG was positively associated with BMD-T value of G.T(r=0.174, P=0.026) in male Han; There was no associated with BMD-T value of different location in Uighurs (P>0.05).After control age and BMI the serum level of OPG was still p ositively associated with T value of L2、L3、Ltotal、InterTro、Hip location in fern ale Han (r=-0.126~-0.277,P=0.012~0.028);There was no associated with BMD-T value of different location in male Han (P>0.05) (5) Binary linear regressio n indicate serum OPG was a negative determinant of L1-T,L2-T,L3, Ltotal-T,InterT ro-T,which could explaining0.8%~10% of T value variation. (6)Fitting Han female serum OPG and bone mass density T-score change optimal the best curve tips:T here was the best linear fit between the serum level of OPG with T value of L1, L2, L3, L total, InterTro location.And there was the best quadratic polynomial fit the serum level of OPG and T value of GT, Hip parts.While there was no the serum level of OPG between the serum level of OPG and L4, Neck T-value parts. (7) The Logistic regression analysis:the serum level of OPG as the protevtive fa ctor of low BMD (OR=0.761; 95%CI:0.591~0.979; P=0.034),femal (OR=14.934, 95%CI:6.971~31.991, P>=0.000),age (OR=2.131,95% CI:1.366~3.323, P=0.001) drinking (OR=2.891,95%CI:1.849~4.521, P=0.000) were the risk factors of low BMD,may increase the risk of osteoporosis. Conclusion:The serum levels of OPG in Uighur groups elderly is lower than the han population; especially the Uighur men is lower than the han Chinese men. The serum level of OPG as the protevtiv e factor of low BMD,femal,age,drinking were the risk factors of low BMD.The ser um level of OPG may had relationship with low BMD,was the protevtive factor of it.
