OBJECTIVE:The purpose of the present research is to make a systematic study on the chemical constituents of bines of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim. It provides some reference value for the comprehensive development and utilization of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim.METHOD:Based on the objective of the present study, the relevant literatures of Trichosanthes Linn.were first collected. The chemical compositions and pharmacological effects of application site of Trichosanthes kirilowii, including Trichosanthis Fructus, Trichosanthis Pericarpium and Trichosanthis Semen, were summarized. In present study, bines of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim was separated and purified by comprehensive chromatographic methods, including MCI, silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, ODS column chromatography and semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography.12compounds were successfully isolated from bines of Trichosanthes kirilowii Marim. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by ESI-MS and NMR data.RESULTS:With the method of the traditional column chromatography and semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography,12compounds were isolated from bines of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maximandand their structures were successfully identified, including4-hydroxy-3-methyloxybenzoic acid (1),4-[formyl-5-(methoxymethyl)-lH-pyrrol-1-yl]butanoic acid (2),3-hydroxy-l-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-propanone(3),p-hydroxybenzoic acid (4),4-(2-formyl-5-hydroxymethylpyrrol-1-yl) Butyric Acid(5),2-[4-(3-hydroxypropyl)-2-methoxyphenoxy]propane-1,3-diol(6),2-[4-(3-hydroxy-1-propenyl)-2-methoxyphenoxy]-1,3-propanediol (7),(-)-methyl dihydrophaseate(8),4’-dihydrophaseic acid(9), quercetin-3-O-rutinoside (10), Salicylic acid (11),2-methoxy-2-(4’-hydroxyphenyl)ethanol(12). All of the compounds are isolated from the bines of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim for the first time. Compounds1-9and11-12are isolated from the plants of Trichosanthes Linn. for the first time.CONCLUSION:The research works and the results obtained may provide some reference value for the utilization of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim.
