Objective:To study the changes of growth of tumor and levels of E-cadherin, Vimentin, and TGF-β in cancerous and para-carcinoma tissues of mice with Lewis lung cancer by applying Feifukang extract.Methods:Build Lewis lung transplantation tumor model with30C57BL/6mice by hypodermic injection. Then the model mice were randomly divided into Feifukang(17.2g crude drug/kg),5-Fu(25mg/kg), model and normal group,10mice in each group;10healthy mice were recruited as normal group. Since the subcutaneous tumor may hit, the tumor size were measured every three days. The mice were killed24hours after the last administration, and the tumor were weighed immediately and inhibitory rate(IR) is calculated. Histopathological changes in cancerous tissues of each group were observed by HE staining. Protein expressions of E-cadherin, Vimentin, and TGF-β were evaluated using Western-Blot in cancerous and para-carcinoma tissues of each group.Results:Compared with model group, the tumor volume and weight of Feifukang group was significantly decreased (P<0.01), and the tumor inhibitory rate of Feifukang was36%. Pathological observation:the tumor cells in Feifukang group became rounder and smaller, and appeared the nucleus necrosis, nuclear fragmentation. Compared with normal group, expressions of E-cadherin were significantly decreased (P<0.01), expressions of vimentin and TGF-β were significantly increased(<P0.01) in cancerous and para-carcinoma tissues of model group. Expressions of E-cadherin of Feifukang group were obviously higher than those in cancerous and para-carcinoma tissues of model group(P<0.01), while expressions of vimentin and TGF-β have no significant difference(P>0.05). In addition to expressions of E-cadherin in cancerous tissues of model group were significantly lower than those in para-carcinoma tissues(P<0.05); expressions of E cadherin, vimentin, TGF-β in cancerous tissues of each group have no significant difference compared to para-carcinoma tissues (P>0.05).Conclusion:Feifukang have certain inhibitory effect on the growth of tumor of mice with Lewis lung cancer; and can increase the expression of E-cadherin, thus promoting the homogeneity adhesion between the tumor cell and inhibiting tumor invasion and metastasis.
