Objective:Through a questionnaire survey and serological tests of the families from sheepfarmer in the Songyuan region, got to know the general status of family members andinformation about brucellosis awareness, behaviors and brucellosis infection amongthe students of sheep farmer, for clear direction of education and promotion ofbehavioral change interventions to control the spread of brucellosis in students fromsheep farmers. Methods:In November2012, two townships were randomly selected in Qianguo Countywhere people are highly infected with brucellosis, and209students from4middle andprimary school were conveniently selected from two townships who were investigatedwith related questionnaire and brucellosis serology test."Members questionnaire"including general status, awareness of brucellosis, behaviors related to breeding sheepwas answered by all students of sheep farmers’ family. Chi-square test was used in theunivariate analysis. The Kolmogorov-Smimov normal distribution test was conductedin the measurement data, which subordinate to the normal distribution law weredescribed as (±s),while those not subordinate were described as M(Q25%-Q75%).Frequency and percentage were calculated. Bonferroni adjustment method was usedto compare differences between two groups.Results:1.209students were selected and out of them,206copies of completely andcorrectly-filled questionnaires were collected, giving a response rate of98.56%. Outof the206students from sheep famers’ families,111students were male and95 students were female, male to female students was1.71. The youngest was5years old,and the oldest was19years old, M(Q25%-Q75%) was13.00(10.00,14.00),11~13yearsold age group has the greatest number, which accounted for38.83%. The major nationwere Han(68.45%).2.105students had heard brucellosis, which accounted for50.97%. Those whoheard brucellosis from village doctor or acquaintances was72students, whichaccounted for34.97%. Those who heard brucellosis from TV or radio was30students,which accounted for14.56%. Those who heard brucellosis from school healtheducation was11students, which accounted for14.56%.3. The awareness rate of brucellosis was18.26%(903/4944). The awarenessof three aspects including:"animal brucellosis","human brucellosis" and"brucellosis prevention" were36.53%(301/824),12.99%(214/1648), and15.70%(388/2477).4. Investing behaviors related to sheep breeding, behaviors with higher contactrate were feeding (86.85%) and holding lamp(28.16%),followed by cleaning thesheepfold(12.62%) and vaccination(8.25%); Different age, gender and nationalitystudents compared the difference with behaviors related to sheep breeding contact rate, contact rat of feeding and cleaning the sheepfold of the older group was higher thanyounger group(χ2=27.800, P<0.001; χ2=,10.749, P<0.001). Contact rat ofvaccination and cleaning the sheepfold of the Mongolian was higher thanHan(χ2=14.313,P<0.001). There was no statistic significant difference betweenpassing rate and the eight kinds of the basic protective behaviors except feeding andvaccination (χ2=4.838,P=0.028;χ2=12.534,P<0.001).Protective rate of the eightkinds of the basic protective behaviors were feeding25.81%, holding lamp15.52%,cleaning the sheepfold38.46%and vaccination17.65%. There was no statisticsignificant difference between passing rate and the eight kinds of the basic protectivebehaviors. Different age, gender and nationality students compared the difference withthe basic protective behaviors had no statistical significance(P>0.05).5. There were11students who had symptom of headache, fever, fatigue and joint pain nearly half a month. SAT≤1:50(++) was13students. SAT≥1:100(++)was6students,who were recessive infection6. Brucellosis infection of different sex, different age group and nationalstudents had no statistical significance(P>0.05). analysis of brucellosis infection andthe awareness rate of brucellosis, there was no statistical significant differencebetween them.Conclusion:1. The awareness rate of brucellosis of students from sheep famers’ family waslow, and older students was higher than the younger.2. The way which students got brucellosis was introduced by village doctors oracquaintances, school health education was not main way.3. The rate of feeding and holding lamp are higher than others.4. The level and rate of protection is generally low when members are engagedin breeding.5. The phenomenon of aggregation existed.
