Objective To explor the clinical significance of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and C-reactive protein(CR) in patients with acute cerebral infarction(ACI).Method A total of 94 patients and 34 healthy subjects between December 2013 andDecember 2014 were enrolled in this study. Admission Blood routine indicators in two groups and CRP levels in patients group were measured. The neutrophil /lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was calculated simultaneously. According to the severity of stroke, all patients were divided in to three groups; mild, moderate and severe groups. We analyzed the NLR and CRP levels in patients with ACI groups compared with the healthy controls.Result The levels of mean NLR was higher in the ACI patients than that the healthy control group(5.60±4.291vs 82±0.38,P<0.05).The mean NLR(2.68±0.79,5.19±1.58, 9.96±5.33,all P<0.05) and CRP levels(12.13±3.35,19.96±6.50,33.44±4.09,all P<0.05) were significantly differences among the mild, moderate and severe groups. The NLR and CRP were positively associated with the severity of the ACI (r=0.693,P<0.05).Conclusion The NLR and CRP at the time of hospital admission has a higher reference value in the diagnosis of acute cerebral infarction. The NLR and CRP has a value in predicting the severity of stroke in patients with ACI.NLR was a simple, inexpensive and readily available marker in diagnosis and prediction of severity in patients with ACI.
