Objective:To investigate the related factors and the clinical characteristics of retinal detachment (RD) after cataract surgeryMethods:This retrospective review comprised62cataract patients(62)who had from June1,2013.6to2014.6with RD occurring after the cataract surgery. We use the Wilcox signed rank sum test to test the vision before and after RD surgery. Use the Table analysis to analysis the correlation between age, gender, high myopia, YAG laser history, the quadrant of retinal detachment, hole number, macular hole, retinal surgical approach, retinal detachment history of the other eye and the treatment time after retinal detachment the10related factors with the time between cataract surgery and RD, the vision after RD surgery and retinal detachment recurrence.Results:The average age was57.00±12.25years old in the62cataract patients which included41men and21women. In this study, after follow up of6-20months, the final visual acuity [3.58±0.86(LogMAR vision)] was significantly improved in contrast with preoperative visual acuity [2.81±1.02(LogMAR visual acuity)](P<0.05).The ratio of the reattachment by one operation was90.31%. Table analysis results showed that high myopia was significantly associated with the time interval of retinal detachment after cataract surgery (P<0.05), Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy was correlated with the improvement of visual acuity after retinal detachment (P<0.05), Age and the time when patient sought for medical treatment after retinal detachment was significantly associated with (P<0.05) recurrence after surgery.Conclusion:The final visual acuity was significantly improved in contrast with preoperative visual acuity. High myopia was significantly associated with the time interval of retinal detachment after cataract surgery. Patients who with high myopia will develop RD faster than the others. The Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy was correlated with the improvement of vision after RD surgery. Patients who have the history of The Nd: YAG laser capsulotomy are poor to improve the vision after RD surgery. The patients’ age and the time when patients sought for medical treatment after retinal detachment was significantly associated with recurrence after surgery. Patients who are older than75years old or the treatment time is16-30days led to more risk of the recurrence after RD surgery.
