Objective:The author aims to find out the correlation between different pathological manifestations of chronic gastritis and TCM syndrome patterns and constitution types. Methods:The samples are from patients with chronic gastritis who were in clinic or hospital of Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital in Guangdong Province from July, 2014 to March, 2015. The chronic-gastritis patients who met the conclusion criteria were asked to fill the questionnaires or the “ Standard of TCM Constitution and classification” and “Questionnaire of Chronic Gastritis ”. Finally, the author conducts the correlational study on different pathology of chronic gastritis and TCM syndrome patterns and constitution types by collecting data, using Microsoft Excel to establish the database and utilizing statistical methods, such as Chi-square test and rank sum test. Results:The male female ratio of 120 patients with chronic gastritis is 1.065:1, and the incidences between male and female chronic-gastritis patients has no significant difference. The minimum age of chronic-gastritis patients is 16 and the maximum one was 70. The incidence of the youth was highest, followed by themiddle-aged, elderly and young. Chronic gastritis classifications in TCM have no statistically significant difference in gender and age. The most common triggers is spicy oily food(82.03%), alcohol(62.5%) and smoking(54.69%). In addition, taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and helicobacter pylori infection are also commonly leading to the chronic gastritis. The most common complications of chronic gastritis is duodenal bulb ulcers, followed by gastric ulcer, bile reflux, duodenitis, esophagitis and gastric polyps. Top three most common clinical symptoms of chronic gastritis are the pain of gastral cavity, defecate irregularity and sense of fullness after dinner. The most common syndrome of chronic gastritis is weak spleen and stomach, followed by liver depression and qi stagnation, heat and dampness in the spleen and stomach, stagnation-heat in liver and stomach, gastric stasis and stomach Yin deficiency. The incidences of all these syndromes between male and female have no significant difference. The constitution distribution of chronic gastritis is Qi depression, Yang deficiency, Qi deficiency, moist heat, blood stasis, normal constitution, phlegm wetness, Yin deficiency and special constitution. TCM syndrome types of chronic gastritis and TCM constitution have statistically significant difference. The lesion sites of chronic gastritis are gastric antrum, corpus ventriculi, and total stomach. TCM classification of chronic gastritis and the lesion sites have no statistically significant difference. The detection rates of pathological histology changes of chronic gastritis are chronic inflammation(100%), reactivity(23.43%), the inherent glands atrophy(18.75%) and helicobacter pylori(17.97%), intestinal metaplasia(14.83%) and hyperplasia(10.93%). The helicobacterpylori infection of chronic inflammation is visible in every syndrome types. The pathologic stages are mainly composed of mild and moderate infection. The pleen and stomach in hot and humid has the highest detection rate in different syndrome types of inflammatory activities, and weakness of the spleen and the stomach the lowest one. The detection of inflammatory activity is mainly in the constitutions of moist heat and phlegm wetness. In glands atrophy, stomach Yin deficiency syndrome has the highest detection rate, mainly in the constitutions of Qi deficiency, Yang deficiency, and Yin deficiency. In intestinal metaplasia, stomach Yin deficiency syndrome holds the highest detection rate, mainly occurred in the constitutions of Yin deficiency and Yang deficiency. In hyperplasia, stomach Yin deficiency syndrome has the highest detection rate, mainly happens on the constitutions of Qi deficiency, Yin deficiency, Yang deficiency, blood stasis. Between Chronic gastritis and TCM syndrome types and constitutions, there is no statistically significant difference. Helicobacter pylori have statistical significance with TCM syndrome types and no statistical significance with the constitutions. Reactivity, inherent glands atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and hyperplasia have statistical significance with TCM syndrome types and constitutions. Conclusion:TCM syndromes of chronic gastritis have no significant correlation with gender, age, and lesion site, and have certain relevance with the constitutions. Chronic inflammation has no correlation with TCM syndrome types and constitutions. The helicobacter pylori infection has correlation with TCM syndrome types, and has no relevance with the constitutions. Reactivity, inherent glands atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and hyperplasia have correlation with TCM syndrome type and constitutions.
