Modal verb is a comparatively weak point in Chinese research as well as a hard andimportant point to foreign students who learn Chinese as a second language. For the sake ofmaking foreign students who learn Chinese as a second language and of furthermoremastering the Chinese, we analyze some common problems existed when foreign students arelearning Chinese, sum up the patterns of error analysis and study the causes of forming theerrors, making several suggestions for teaching Chinese as a second language.This thesis is divided into five chapters:Chapter one: Introduction section. Point out the motive and significance of selectivesubject, the scope of research and theory and the achievements that former researchers havegot and so on.Chapter two: Sorting the body of knowledge of Chinese, including syntactic analysis andsemantic, pragmatic aspects of the analysis.Chapter three: Sorting and classifying the sentence of “yinggai” and “keyi” which withproblems that existed in HSK dynamic composition Corpus. Including should be used but not,indiscriminately used, should use the word of A but with the B word, etc.Chapter four: Explanation for the causes brought these problems from two angles of"teaching" and "learning". Concluded the main reasons are negative move of motherlanguage,overgeneralization of the target language,misappropriate study strategies,badinfluences from other extra conditions and so on.Chapter five: Several advices of teaching have been made. Focus on the explanation ofwords, ways of practice, and teaching materials, etc.
