At the time of contact with the foreign students, you could find that they havemany problems in the use of modal verbs. Especially in the use of "néng","huì",and "kěyǐ", errors occur more frequently. So the essay chooses these threewords to study as a representative of modal verbs.In the beginning of the study, I did some research on foreign students. I haverecorded a few biased error statements. What’s more, a large number ofcorpuses were collected in HSK dynamic corpus. Based on those materials,integration, classification and analysis was accomplished. n the process ofanalysis, it’s very easy to notice that there are still several different errorsbesides wrong addition, omissions and wrong sequence, they are sentencethat combined wrong and negative and the positive and negative bias type.This paper chose some more representative categories to analysis in detail.After the classification analysis, some of the reasons for the errors were foundout. This paper analyzed it from two aspects, internal factors and externalfactors. Internal cause mainly from four aspects, for example, mother tonguemigration, rule generalization of target language, the reason from learner itselfand cognitive analysis of the sequence. External cause is mainly from fouraspects followed, the teaching materials, communication strategy, socialenvironment and teachers influence analysis.Both the purpose of collection of errors, and detailed analysis of the classifiedthese errors or reason is to solve the problem, and also providing theoreticalbasis for teaching Chinese as a foreign language and teaching practice. Basedon the causes of errors, this paper came up with some suggestions andstrategies which mainly from the following several aspects: teaching material’swriting, teaching method’s improvement, the learner itself and the constructionof the teachers. These aspects were introduced in detail both in whole andseparately. On the basis of others researches, I put forward my own ideas.No matter which problem was come up and analysis, the only purpose is tosolve the problem or puts forward some suggestions. The purpose of thispaper is also in line with this. Through its own analysis and research, I hope Icould provide some practical suggestions or countermeasures for teachingChinese as a foreign language.
