According to the definition and the classification of culture-loadedwords in English, this thesis has a quantitative study of theculture-loaded words in the Chinese culture textbooks for foreigners, anddescribes the distribution of the culture-loaded words in the textbooks.The thesis also studies the culture-loaded words in the new HSK wordssyllabus and compares them with the culture-loaded words in the textbooks.The thesis finds the percentage of culture-loaded words in the textbooksis not so high. The culture-loaded words they choose are not the same andthe classification is quite different. What’s more, most of theculture-loaded words are not from the syllabus. This thesis thinks thatit should have a standard to follow when the culture-loaded words are chosenand suggests that the culture-loaded words syllabus should be made.
