Brief Study On The Relationship Between The Visual Aesthetic Characteristics Of Lu Xun’s Works And The Fine Arts

This paper tries to explore the latent relationship between the visual aestheticcharacteristics of Lu Xun’s works and the fine arts. The whole life of Lu Xun hasindissoluble bond with art. He has broad and strong interest in art. His art collection isrich and his art research is profound. His art activity is rich and complex. He is verybroad in art field. Lu Xun’s works have strong visual aesthetic effect, which has a closerelationship with his art accomplishment.Lu Xun is sensitive to color, space, form, light and shade. He created a wonderfulvisual world. Lu Xun’s works are rich in color and light. His works present the contrastbeauty of black and white, the gorgeous beauty of the heavy-color, the simple beauty ofthe line drawing, the ample beauty of the blank, the dynamic beauty of the serialpictures，the vivid beauty of character shaping and so on. Based on the visual aestheticexpression of Lu Xun’s works and Lu Xun’s letters, diaries and other related text, thispaper argues that the formation of the visual aesthetic features has inner link with theadoption of the art techniques. Lu Xun absorbed art techniques such as line-drawing,intended blank, the scatter perspective and art theories such as empathy and conveyingspirit by form. Lu Xun also absorbed art theory, art technique and spiritual character offoreign art into his literary creation.The spirits of some arts and Lu Xun’s works are interlinked. Lu Xun’s works showfree will and fighting spirit, and shows the personality of advocating plain and natural.These spiritual character can be found in modern art, Han dynasty stone portraits, Tangpainting, wood carving, letter paper, New Year paintings and stone carving decorativepattern. Lu Xun appreciates the fighting spirit of the modern wood, and praises the deepand powerful spirit of the Han stone carvings. He agrees with the strong subject spiritexhibited by the western modern art, and loves the vivid or simple artistic style of Tangpainting, New Year paintings, letter paper, stone carving decorative pattern. The visualaesthetic effects presented by Lu Xun’s works are inseparable with the spirits of thesearts. Lu Xun has research on the fine arts of ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign.This article focuses on traditional Chinese painting, New Year pictures, Han Dynasty’sstone reliefs, Beardsley’s illustrations. Through reading Lu Xun’s works, diaries, letters,prefaces and consulting the art collection of Lu Xun to explore the hidden relationshipbetween the visual aesthetic of Lu Xun’ works and the several fine arts. This paper digstheir common elements to explore whether there is a possibility that the latter affect theformer in a form of latent. Through aesthetic interpretation and comparative study toexplore the relationship between the visual aesthetic features of his works and HanDynasty stone portraits and Beardsley illustrations. And then points out that the art as avisual aesthetic art is the important resources of Lu Xun’s creation and it participates inthe construction of the text in a latent form. The thesis illustrates that art contributes tothe visual aesthetic effects of Lu Xun’s works in potential and subtle way.Since ancient times there has the theory that poetry and painting share the sameorigin. One experience of Lu Xun’s successful creation is that he absorbs the fine artsinto his literary creation. Study the relationship between Lu Xun and the fine arts andinvestigate Lu Xun’s absorption of the fine arts are important. They have importantsignificance for highlighting the vivid characteristics of literature and promoting thedevelopment of literature.
