Since90’s of last century, China documentary began to go commercial road, but thedevelopment of the industry has been slowly in documentary. In recent years, driven bynational policy support and the audience demand, China’s film industry began to flourish, theemergence of a number of documentary channels and columns. In2003, GuangzhouDocumentary Film Festival-China’s only national and international documentary filmfestival-founded in Guangzhou. After eleven years of development, GuangzhouDocumentary Film Festival has experienced the transformation from academic seminar topopular film festival, bear the culture communication and business transactions in these twofunctions, influence is increasing.With the development of media system reform, the development of documentary hasentered the road of industrialization, and industrialization is the root of the market, with themarket economy approach to the development of industry in order to create a vibrant industry.How to promote the documentary further marketization is the priority among priorities in thedocumentary film industry development. As an important part of the documentary filmindustry, Guangzhou Documentary Film Festival is to promote China documentarycontinuously towards marketization, internationalization is important one annulus.In this paper, Guangzhou Documentary Film Festival as the research object, usingliterature analysis and case scheme, market-oriented operation of professional studydocumentary festival. This paper first reviews the development of Guangzhou DocumentaryFilm Festival eleven years, positioning for the transfer and development center every timebehind the name change is discussed. Then through the research on China documentaryindustry development, summed up the status and difficulties of the development Chinesedocumentary industry; through the Guangzhou Documentary Film Festival market activitiesare analyzed, to find the market problems, study the causes, finally puts forward somesuggestions, to explore how Guangzhou Documentary Film Festival develops in the future.
