The relationship between intelligence, language, and learning is a challenging field of study. Learning,cognitive capacity, and language use are so interwoven and complex that it is difficult to study one of thesetraits in isolation. Therefore, the need to explore the relationships between these traits continues. Based onGardner‘s multiple intelligence theory and Oxford‘s strategy classification system, this study randomlyselected150college students from three universities in Lanzhou as the research objects, and establishregression model, using multiple regression analysis to investigate the relationship between the collegestudents‘multiple intelligence and English learning strategy and their English learning achievements. Theinstruments of this study are Multiple Intelligences Inventory and perception and strategy inventory forlanguage learning and the statistical software SPSS13.0. First, the descriptive analysis on the currentsituation of the participants‘multiple intelligences and their English learning strategy were made, and thenthe multiple regression models between the college students‘English learning strategy, multipleintelligence and English CET4test results have been discussed both qualitatively and quantitatively.This study mainly found that: Firstly, the actual situation of the learning strategies, multipleintelligence and learning achievements of150students from university in Lanzhou have been revealed.Secondly, multiple intelligences and English learning strategy using was positively correlated with theoverall tendency; and the six of nine types of intelligence play different degrees of impact and a positivecorrelation to varying degrees to language learning strategies. Finally, the correlations both participants‘learning strategies effectiveness and multiple intelligences with their English learning achievements hasbeen clearly revealed by multivariate regression model. Thus, the present study provides valuable insightsinto the relationships between learning strategies, multiple intelligence and learning achievements. Theempirical research of multiple intelligences and English learning strategies tendentious reveals theindividual intellectual differences in language learners‘choosing of English learning strategies.Therefore, English learning and teaching should be people oriented. And it is extremely important forteachers to put more emphasis on the training of language learning strategies and take good advantage ofindividual diversities in multiple intelligences and learning strategies. Besides, schools should improveforeign language teaching evaluation system and develop students‘comprehensive ability.
