It is never too much to emphasize the role of note-taking, as it is highlyimportant and difficult for student interpreters. This thesis studies the problemsregarding note-taking the author comes across often in daily practice of consecutiveinterpreting. Being a very common issue of student interpreters, the notes oftencannot be recognized to activate the memory or fail to help the interpreter produce agood interpretation in the course of production. By employing a comparativeanalysis method, this thesis attempts to analyze the causes behind these problemswith the examples observed by the author during daily practice. With the causes inmind, the author tries to probe into possible solutions for improving note-taking soas to gain a balance between note-taking and memory and have notes play theireffective role in the course of listening comprehension and production. The authordemonstrates the effectiveness of the solutions through her own performances, wishing that these solutions will shed some light on note-taking for other studentinterpreters in the future.
