Since the new century, the relationship between peasants and the land has becomean important topic in Rural Novels. Land, as peasants depend on for surviving, is atraditional peasants’ lifeblood, but also the new generation peasants’“yoke” who wantsto get rid of, and even it is the hope and concern of the peasants that has far from lands.Among the Rural Novelist, Jia Pingwa showed his strong concern for the RuralComplex and traditional culture, paid attention on the peasants and the ones who leftland, and expressed some criticism on the over urbanization in countryside. Sun Huifenis highly concerned about the spiritual world of the left-land peasants, especially themigrant workers, and because of its women writers identity, she described thecountryside women’s current situation. And Liu Qingbang focused on the criticismabout humanity and the reality, showing the left-land peasants’ wandering life, thehardship fate, and his yearning to the hometown. Meanwhile, the writings about theland have got rich connotations such as “village”,“hometown” and so on.This article will be divided into four parts.The first part is about the “defining the core conceptions and analyzing the socialbackground”. It will define the conceptions about the Rural Novel and peasants in firstsection. The second and third sections will be describe the background of therelationship between peasants and the land, and also summarize the part of writingsabout land in Jia Pingwa, Sun Huifen and Liu Qingbang’s Rural Novels.The second part is the main part of this article. It will focus on the status of ruralcontemplation based on Jia Pingwa, Sun Huifen and Liu Qingbang’s novels, combiningwith the same period writers such as Yan Lianke, Zhao Benfu, Chi Zijian, Lu Yao and soon to explore different types of peasants’ relationship towards land. It will be intendedto follow three sections: Contenting with the land, Leaving away from the land andMissing the land.The third part is based on the works of writers’ value and emotion thoughts. It isgoing to explore why these writers write novels and express their thoughts in that way,and put forward some views of my own.Finally, in the conclusion part, it will summarize the main features of the threeauthors’ writing of the peasants and the land, and will look into the future relationshiptowards to harmonious.
