In order to enhance the ability to serve our country’s diplomatic strategy andregional economic and social development, carry out the instructions of “expandingthe research coverage of the foreign countries and areas gradually” by the ChineseMinistry of Education, create the think tanks and brain banks with the professionaladvantages and important influence in the field of South Pacific island countriesresearch, Liaocheng University launched the study of the South Pacific islandcountries. The Republic of Marshall Islands is one of south pacific island countries,and the author is responsible for translating the introduction part of Marshall Islandsfrom English into Chinese.As a translation practice report, this thesis includes four chapters. The firstchapter is the brief introduction of the background, purpose, meaning of this projectand the brief introduction of translation contents. The second chapter is preparationbefore translating. The third chapter is the examples analysis including two sections.The first section is guide theory, giving the brief introduction of Skopos theory. Thesecond section is translation skills and strategies of long and difficult sentence. Thefourth chapter is the conclusion of the thesis: the inspiration, lessons and questions tobe solved.The writing purpose of this thesis is discussing the translation strategies andtechniques of long and difficult sentences of countries brief introduction. In terms oflinguistic stylistic style of translation of brief introduction texts, the target languageshould use the formal, standard language, and language expression should be simpleand clear, easy to understand.
