| The Great Tang Records on the Western Regions is important corpus during the period oftransition from medieval to modern.This is not only because of its age,but also its value. Thisbook not only introduces the westbound to138countries and regions, cities, but also records alarge number of Buddhist stories and legends.This paper is divided into two parts,thenon-story and story,according to its content. Based on the view of stylistic perspective,theadverbs of this book are studied by means of qualitative and quantitative analyses.Then wereveal the characteristics of grammar in different styles.This thesis mainly includes the following aspects:The first chapter is the introduction,in which we introduce the Great Tang Records on theWestern Regions and the edition this paper based on.Then we outline the research presentsituation of the book and the research meaning and research method of this paper.In the second chapter,we expound the meaning and definition of adverb,and then classifyadverbs of the Great Tang Records on the Western Regions into time adverb, negative adverb,scope adverb, degree adverb, judging adverb, interrogative adverb, state adverb, advise andcommand adverb, modest adverb,correlative adverb, guessing adverb and modal adverb.The third chapter is adverbs description of the Great Tang Records on the WesternRegions. This book is divided into non-story part and story part.By using quantitatively andqualitatively statistical methods,we study179adverbs of the book.And based on thedescription and analysis of these adverbs,we outline their overall outlook.And then wecompare adverbs in non-story part and those in story part.The fourth chapter investigates the style of the Great Tang Records on the WesternRegions.Based on the different distribution of these adverbs in different styles,we sum upfeatures of the adverbs and the style of the book. |
