| The Great Tang Records on the Western Regions is important corpus during the period of transition from the medieval era to the modern times. This is not only because of its age, but also its value. This book not only introduces 138 countries,regions and cities along Xuanzhang’s westbound process, but also records a large number of Buddhist stories and legends. Based on the view of stylistic perspective,the conjunctions of this book are studied by means of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Reveal the conjunction the applicability of different under the different styles.This thesis mainly includes the following aspects:The first chapter is the introduction, in which we introduce the Great Tang Records on the Western Regions and the edition this paper based on. Then we outline the research present situation of the book and the research meaning and research method of this paper.In the second chapter, we expound the meaning and definition of conjunction,and then classify conjunctions of the Great Tang Records on the Western Regions into ten categories: coordinating conjunction, continuing conjunction, progressive conjunction, alternative conjunction, hypothetical conjunction, causal conjunction,adversative conjunction, concessive conjunction, conditional conjunction and objective conjunction.The third chapter is descriptions of conjunction in the Great Tang Records on the Western Regions. This book is divided into style and narrative style. By using quantitatively and qualitatively statistical methods, we study 92 conjunctions of the book. And based on the description and analysis of these conjunctions, we outline their overall features. And the comparison of conjunction of two kinds of style.The fourth chapter investigates the style of the Great Tang Records on the Western Regions. Based on the different distribution of these adverbs in different styles, we sum up the stylistic features of the conjunctions in the book. |
