China is a multi-ethnic country. In China’s historical development, all theseethnic groups work together create the country’s splendid and colourful culture, which further constitutes the extensive and profound Chinese civilisation. Religiousculture is an important part of Chinese national culture. National religions also playan important role in the development of different ethnic groups. Therefore, theanalysis of Chinese national culture should better be conducted through theexamination of religious beliefs. Kyrgyz is an ethnic minority group in China. Theyare found mainly in the southwestern part of the Xinjiang Uygur AutonomousRegion, with a smaller remainder found in the neighbouring areas. Their religion islargely in line with the general rules of the religious beliefs held by minority ethnicgroups living in Western China; but also has unique characteristics. The religion ofKyrgyz has profound influences in their social lives.Kyrgyz majority Muslim now, but in the history of the development of ethnicgroups who believed in many religions, such as primitive religion, shamanistic, zoroastrianism, manichaeism religion, etc. Such as shamanism has great influence inthe broad masses kirgiz, belief for a long time. Some of the shamanism customs stillnow. Stand in the perspective of history, from early nature worship to modern islamicbeliefs have had a profound influence on kirgiz spirit life. Especially after the9thcentury, xinjiang ethnic migration and tribal fusion caused a political, economic, ideological and cultural fields, a series of changes, at this time also gradually spreadof Islam, and spread quickly in khalkhas and became their main beliefs, and sociallife of kirgiz with extremely profound influence on all aspects. As the kirgiz ethnic converted to Islam, the religion was gradually out of thekirgiz’s religious view. But they are living custom of kirgiz and still exist theinfluence of national cultural psychology, to some extent, can say the religiouselements still exists in the daily life of the kirgiz, which shows that the kyrgyz culturediversity, richness. Many studies have been undertaken to analyse the Kyrgyz. But the existingstudies on Kyrgyz’s religious beliefs are quite limited. There is a general lack ofsystemic analysis on this issue. As a response to the requirements of subjectdevelopment and social reality, it has become increasingly relevant to conduct acomprehensive in-depth analysis of Kyrgyz’s religious beliefs. Such an analysis isbetter to be undertaken based on intensive literature review and field research, with specific focus on the historical evolution of Kyrgyz’s religious beliefs and theirpresent status. The outcomes from such an analysis could contribute to theimprovement of existing theoretical system of studies on Western China’s minorityreligions. They could also help the formation of policies to promote Kyrgyz’seconomic prosperity, cultural development, and national unity, and furthercontributing to China’s primary development priority of building a harmonioussociety. Now, the khalkhas Islamic clergies in Xinjiang largely sticks to the Islam’s basicbeliefs and basic course. They also strongly support the political leadership of theChinese Communist Party (CCP), and the institutions based on Socialism. Theyclosely cooperate with the CCP and the Chinese government in the development of awell-off and harmonious society. They also play indispensable roles in guiding theprocess of adapting religions to a socialist society. But, it is also worth to mentionthat some of the religious clergies do not receive good education, and thus havinglimited knowledge.
