With the rapid development of China’s economy, the fast enhancement of theinternational standing and the gradual expanding of foreign exchanges, China is ingreat demand of excellent interpreting talents and interpretation has received moreand more attention. Even though, interpretation and written translation have manysimilarities, there exists some differences. Presently, many scholars at home andabroad have made various studies on interpretation from different perspectives, butfew of them have made intensive study in this regard.Firstly, the author has introduced the definitions, features and quality standardsof interpretation so as to distinguish interpretation from written translation. Secondly, the author has chosen one of students’ interpretation in random among the transferredtexts of in-class recordings from12interpreting students. The offered texts to beinterpreted include both Chinese and English. Through the analysis of theseinterpretations, the author finds that the tendency of written expression in interpretedtexts is quite prominent. This tendency can be classified into:1, the translation is toofull and accurate.2,simplicity is over emphasized.3, sentence order of the originalsentence has been greatly readjusted.4, written language and compound sentences arecommonly used in interpretation. In terms of the issues said above, the author has offered the modified interpretation employing the skills of simplification, repetition, syntactic linearity and the feature of “simple word and short sentences” ofinterpretation. Finally, the author has a review of the whole thesis and sums up themain idea in the thesis. Due to the features of “accuracy, fluency and promptness(准确、晓畅、迅速)”(Tian,1985) and “fidelity, promptness(忠实、及时)”(Zhong,1998),it is not feasible for the interpreters to weigh and consider the words or the sentencestructures of the interpretation. Thus, the tendency of written expression ininterpretation is not practical on the site of interpretation. This thesis is hoped to offer suggestions and advice to the training of interpretingstudents and arouse the attention of relevant authorities and departments so as to makeits contribution to the cultivation of interpreting talents and the development ofinterpretation.
